Okay guys, this is when I need you most. I guess my friends consider me to be the 'car guy' anyway, I need help with a little problem. Last night, someone threw-up in my friends new Jetta. It has a cloth interior and most of it has been cleaned up. They are going to come by later today, what are the best products to assure her car gets cleaned. I have time to go shopping, but I don't have time to go to any specialty stores. Just Kragen and Autozone. Thanks ahead of time. Steve

Here are some thoughts:

Fabreeze: if you spray it right on the area that got messed up then it will help get rid of the odor.

Prestone Carpet foam: Don't settle for substitutes. You can get it at Target for sure but look for it at those other places. It red with a red brush on the top. It really works well. Avoid the TurtleWax brand one. The brush is crap.

Ozium: they make some great odor neutralizer sprays. New Car Smell is my favorite. It kills most smells in the car.

That should get you started. Getting the smell out and cleaning the fabric should be the main concern for them. I think the Prestone and Fabreeze will take care of that. Fabreeze is pretty soapy smelling so be careful how much you use. Make sure the car can air out for awhile before they drive it off.

I had a similar problem with a Mercury Sable last year...the owner's dog barfed in it. They had picked up most of the dog barf, but it left a stain (and stench...Pheeeew!) on the rear cloth seating surface. I used my Bissel Little Green machine and a disinfectant solution (a mixture of upholstery shampoo and Lysol) to clean the area ( I also wore rubber gloves and a face mask when cleaning this area, after all , I was dealing with a bio-hazard). After the area was cleaned, I sprayed the interior with Meguiar's odor eliminator...the stain and smell was gone and the rear seat looked as good as new.
