help removing dried product

I have searched and only come up with another product I can buy. Since I have >45 flammable liquids in my garage already, I'm hoping one of them will do.:lol2:

Many compounds, not matter what I try, sling some product onto ancillary surfaces. I can easily buff them off but is there a wipe on product that will save me some elbow grease? It can take off wax too, just leave the surface ready for wax.

Mineral spirits is what I'm hoping you'll say....
 
Mineral spirits is a good choice but since many of today's products are water based you might try some how water on a cloth and see what affect it has.

Klean Strip Prep-All is another product specifically developed for automotive applications that might also be a good choice.
 
I have always used the thought of "Like removes like". So mabe use some finishing polish on MF towel to remove you product sling.
 
A non-flammable alternative is peanut oil, it will remove dried on wax. Dried on polishes ca be removed by QDs or mineral spirits.

I usually just use IPA. The key is to not let it sit for too long. I had one car I had to pause over a weekend during the summer. The 90+ temp and humidity just baked on the compound dust.:wall I ended up just claying the car again. It was the fastest way to remove it.:(
 
Ever try a QD or ONR in a spray bottle? Try to tape off and use some older towels to protect the area's your are going to work on and if any product slings then you don't have to worry about it later. If it's on some rubber trim try using Klasse AIO or peanut butter.
 
just an update - was doing a finish that was really oxidized and used duragloss 561/501 to bring it back. Used a 15% IPA mixture after each of the DG products before the UPGP. Worked perfectly getting all the wax/dust off before the next stage...

I'm glad to see you got it off Glen.

I did some work on my daughters car yesterday and once I finished up I cleaned some dried product off my machine using the same method. The solution immediately softened the dried product and I just wiped it away...:bigups
 
Will rubbing alcohol work to remove product?
I have pillar posts to cover with chrome and need to make it as clean as possible without buying a host of other products.

marinesoup- IPA does work OK for cleaning off some stuff, but I'd want to *really* ensure that those pillars are clean; I'd use something more potent.
