This is an awesome website!

Just bought an old BMW. It's got a lump of dried - pink, of all colours - bubblegum stuck to one of the alloys. I gave the car a wash to see what elbow grease would get off, but it's pretty stuck. I've read about some alloy cleaners like Sonax, but was wondering if anyone has any suggestions?

Cheers

Depending what the gum base is, just let is soak with water based cleaners, after you removed most of it by hand. If that does not work then a mild solvent will dissolve it.

Put an ice cube on it (get it really cold) and simply pop it off.

Get one of those can's of air, one's without the bittering/deterring agent in it and hold it up side down. Liquid oxygen reacts with air to form a ICE gun, spray some of that on and around the gum. After grab yourself a soda and spray inside that, you'll get cold soda every time. Courier Driver Trick

Stoner's Tarminator. You should ALWAYS have it on hand. Very safe and so many uses........including being an excellent tire cleaner.

steam tends to make it spread.

ice cubes/dry ice will work however be careful if the rims are painted and you have any doubt about the strength of the paint.

Great tips so far, thanks heaps everyone! Especially liked the one that got me cold soda too =D

I'll give some of the suggestions a go when I get some spare time. There's just not enough time between working and taking care of the car. =(

I'll try to post up some piccies when I get round to it.
