help pick a wax

I need a recommndation for a wax that can be bought locally, IE: kragen, auto zone, pep boys. This is for a deep metallic blue motorcycle which i now use mothers FX synwax on. It works fine but i just know i've gotten deeper gloss in the past. (on other vehicle...this bike is new so all i've tried on it is FX) So i want to know if there is something that will give it a deeper gloss that i can get locally, or is the FX synwax close enough so that i'm not likely to do much better w/o buying on of those high end internet available waxes? I'm not a fanatic or anything, but i know most here are so i figured you people would have an answer if anyone would.

meguiars NXT techwax 2.0 gives a deeper look than syn wax in my opinion. and it lasts a good bit longer... meguiars mirror glaze (professional series) #26 has a little bit of a following here(im not crazy about it though) too for deepening and darkening paint, however in my experience its durability is fairly short. id go with the texh wax 2.0... if you live near a harley davidson dealership, you could get yourself some s100, which is one of my favorites, and probably the best looking ive tried... if an advanced autoparts near you carries surf city garage, you could try their barrier reef wax too, it darkens paint noticably too.. any one of these should give you better results than the syn wax

forgot to mention meguiars ultimate quik wax (spray), this would be good to put on overtop of your already existing wax for extra protection, it looks awesome too. my favorite spray wax and its available pretty much everywhere.. id imagine with a motorcycle its garage kept, so you could get away with just using ultimate quik wax and have a nice look and a really easy time waxing.

hmmm....i've seen that NXT techwax 2.0. I'll give it a shot unless this thread generates anything more interesting. I've kinda shy away from meguiers for years since i tried gold class or whatever that was called, because i felt is was the worse wax i've used.

By the way, has anyone tried TR3 resin glaze? I remember years ago before it was made by blue magic or whoever it is that makes it now, it made my bike back then look like someone poured honey over it. It was the deepest glossiest product i have ever used. But last time i tried it maybe 5 years ago it was mediocre. But i noticed since they have one w/o cleaners in it and i wonder if maybe thats the one i liked so much years ago, because the one i tried last had cleaners, and they seemed pretty stout. so i wonder if it's the formula that changed or what, but at one time it was incredible.

NXT 2,0 is really a good basic wax or maybe more like a "mildly cleaning sealant" if your paint is in good shape, gives a nice shine and is easy and fast on and off, just let it dry for about 20+min before buffing off..

i havnt used the tr3, i read just what you said, looking up reviews on amazon i think. that it used to be good till the formulation was changed... the new one is good for removing oxidation i hear, but i like color x for that, and if that doesnt work, theres always the PC and polishes :-) .. but i havnt seen a non-abrasive version of the tr3.

I DID see a non abrasive TR3, but it was after i had already tried the cleaner one and i just didn't want to spend any more on it.

NXT... You would be amaze how well it pops out the metallic and how slick it is. Remember to let it cure before removing it.

+1 for #26, I like and use it. Too add a little more *wet* see if you can find some #5 or #7. I use #7 as that is what I can get locally.

Clean the paint apply the glaze, follow directions. Then apply wax.

I would give NXT a try and maintain it with Ultimate Quik Wax and see if this combo gives you the wetness you are looking for.

Another product to consider, if you can find it, is Mother's Reflections. I like this a smidgin better than NXT. Reflections Wax can also be paired with Reflections Topcoat. Here in Roanoke one can get these at Bumper to Bumper.

Well, i bought some NXT in paste form and it seems pretty good, but i will have to check it out a little more because at this point i haven't seen it in the right light to tell for sure whether it is as good or better than what i've been using. But i do think it hides swirl marks better, and if nothing more thats an advantage. I do have some Megs ultimate detailer too, tho i think my supply of that truck detailer i bought from Big Lots a year or 2 ago (bought all they had) is actually better. but no matter what detailer i use i think thats a moot point and that the wax must be good first. i gotta say tho, and i don't know if formulas were better in the past or what, but back in the day i seemed to get a much wetter look with every day basic waxes. i remember Rally paste giving my cars a look that was so wet it was like a thick layer of clear plastic. Not any more. Was that the change in EPA regs or paint formulas or what? I know i'm not imagining this, but it used to be a lot easier to get a deep wet look even with cheap common products.

yea, years back i think changine VOC regulations made a lot of formulat change, i know tr3 changed because of it, so did liquid glass, and klasse... some waxes like meguiars #16 arent even available for sale in the US because they refused to change thr formula to mees the new regulations.. i dont know exactly when this happened.. several years ago i guess.

Firgures. I knew that had to be it because i remember TR3 looking like you poured a bottle of honey over the paint, and it was slick as could be too. Amazing stuff. Fast forward to 2005 or thereabouts and i tried it for the first time in decades and it was worthless. From one extreme to the other because of Govt restrictions.

Brother I've used them all--mother's, meguiars, etc, etc, etc. I've found that the "online" waxes work the best for me as far was the look I want and ease of use. Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax, Pinnacle Souveran Wax or Pinnacle XMT Wax are my recommendations. On a properly prepped surface they will amplify the gloss so much it's mind-boggling!

Zymol was a favorite in my OTC days. Smelled like bananas and produced a deep wet gloss. Can't vouch for durability since I applied it pretty much every saturday. This was on a Metallic blue 85 T'Bird.
