Help... Have to repaint part of panel but touch-up paint not matching

Car was repainted red but have no history of the exact color code.

So I went to car place and they scanned color for me. They said it's exact match but when I applied it on test area not exact match.

I have to repaint defect the size of golf ball close to rear wheel. Too big for touch up with a brush, I tried and it looks horrible. I will be bringing it to body-shop but can they still do decent job with this paint, even if not exactly matching???

Thanks

Red is tough to match as it fades/etc. over time so even with the proper code it can be a challenge.

It'll get down to how good the shop is.  A great shop will match it so well you won't be able to discern the repair, but even then it might become more obvious over time as it'll "age" differently from the original paint.

The trick is to find a good paintshop.  Be utterly inflexible about how the work has to be done to your satisfaction; if they aren't on-board with that go elsewhere.
