Help finding perfect wax for my new black pearl GTI

I have ordered a 20th anniversary GTI in Black Magic Pearl and was wondering what system I should use for the car. O have been lurking here for some time and there are so many opinions on what to use with certain colors and finishes I decided to post to see what the consensus was on this combination. I will be driving this car 3-5 times a week on average 7- 8 months out of the year and dont mind spending a couple hours on it every other week if needed but if less is needed even better. If more is needed I will do what it takes. I have included a pic to show that the color doesn't really appear to be all that pearly compared to some of the cars I have seen when searching threads. I haven't seen the color in person so I cant honestly comment on it.

Thanks in advance.

Pictures are from the European 25th anniversary GTI but it will be the same car, same color.

I think a lot of people here fiddle with different systems because they enjoy tinkering with the way the car looks.. My impression is that you want something that would look nice, but the lesser the maintenence, the better. In that case a sealant would best suit you. The two most popular choices are klasse and zaino.

Zaino has a pretty self-enclosed system where you wont need much of any other outside products to maintain a shine. You should be set with 2 - 3 applications a year, depending on your climate. I can do a wash and wax in less than an hour easily, so with zaino (using zfx) its probably going to take a little over that, including time for set up. Other than those apps you'd probably wanna wash around once every 1-2 weeks, so that'd be about half hour to 45 mins. You might get the urge to do a swirl-removal procedure once a year or so.

klasse gives a bit more flexibility... unlike zaino, you wont feel guilty for putting on a carnauba topper since there arent any claims that it would detract from the klasse shine. I find it a bit more difficult to buff off than zaino, though. Like zaino, 2 - 3 coats of SG should go for a year.

I have had great results going the Klasse AIO SGX4 SouveranX2 route on my Black 03 VR6 GTI. Use the crystal mist detailer in between waxing, and the results are amazing.

Edwin nice job, that car looks sweet. Snapdemon you got a nice ride coming, I would check out what Edwin used, considering the cars are similar.

For a dark car like that, I would go with AIO for great protection that will last 6 months, and when you're in the mood and have time, top it with a good carnuba wax like Pinnacle Souveran or S100 (pure wax, no cleaners or abrasives that would remove the AIO) to give the paint more depth.

All hail the AIO, SG (multiple coats, yet, a max of 4 or 5 should be good), souveran or s100/ps21!! (see my signiture:o ).

snapdemon,

Welcome to Autopia! :xyxthumbs

I would like to recommend a base of Poorboy's EX sealant for your new ride. It is the easiest sealant I have ever used and can be layered. You can also use it right after a polish.

I personally like Souveran as a topper on dark cars. The deep, rich, wet look really works well on black of any kind. I then use Crystal Mist QD to maintain in between waxing.

Here are a couple pics of this combo. EX x 3, & Souveran x 1.

Nice choice, I've got the exact same car on order:cool:

I too have been lookin around here for the best options. Was considering the Pinnacle Natural Brilliance car care products, or going with the Klasse All-In-One, followed by Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze and a coat of P21S Carnauba Wax (paste). I also like the packages offered here: Autopia Perfect Shine Kit & the Autopia Glide, Block & Waffle Detailing Clay Kit. So many choices:confused:

My last car (94 GTI Dusty Mauve) I used the complete Mothers line, including the clay bar and was happy with the results. Just thought I'd look into something with a little more to it...

BTW here is the look of the 20th AE (only in Imola Yellow)
