I went and got some S100 cleanser and S100 paste wax today. I also got some Scratch-X to remove some of what looks like to be scratches/swirls from my hood. I also got some 100% Terry cotton towels (Turtle Wax brand.) I'm wondering what everyones opinions are of this, and what order I should apply them in, after a dawn wash.

Thanks.

Those products should work okay. Just test them out and see if you like how it looks.

Personally, I would use this order:

Dawn - S100 cleanser - ScratchX - S100 cleanser - S100 paste

Invest in some Microfiber towels, two wash buckets & sheepskin mitt. The Walmart Euro mitt is good.

Got a sheepskin mit.. and wash buckets. Should I use microfiber towels over the regular turtle wax brand cotton ones for the application of these products?

I am a big fan of MF towels. Yes I would use them over the turtle wax cotton ones. The the cotton towels for your interior or wheels. Also buy some Claymagic Clay at Walmart or Autozone to clean the surface of your paint. After claying, apply the polish. You will be happy with the results.

I would use ZanoOs order of products. I would add Claying after the wash but before the polish. Good luck.

Are the products I purchased going to do a good job though? I really want to get rid of these tiny scratches on my hood. (I have a brand new 20th Anv. GTI.) I'm guessing the dealership messed somethig up when they detailed it, hence the scratches/swirls.

Jar the products you have are fine. The Scratch X may remove the scratches. I would test the Scratch X on a small area. If this doesn't help you may need to go another route with another product. I would urge you to hit the button labeled Learn at the upper right hand corner and start there. You can also cruise through some of the forums and read about the many products available.

I caution you that once you start learning more you will want to spend more on detailing products.

BTW welcome to Autopia....Andrew

Yes, I would definately use a clay bar. I thought we were just talking about the products that you already had, that's why I didn't recommend that earlier.

Good luck :)
