I have tried 2 different lines of products and I cannot get my car swirl free. Looking for correction of 90% or better. Car is 2008 Infiniti M35X Black.

Today
Wash dawn
Clay PB Clay w/Lube (Car wash n H2o)
rewash dawn
Dry with leaf blower finish with PB WW

First:
SSR2.5 White Pad (Flex Spread 2 work at 5)
SSR1 White Pad (Flex Spread 2 work at 5)
Still swirls under halogen:surrender

Next:
M105 white Pad (Flex Spread 2 work at 5)
M205 White Pad (Flex Spread 2 work at 5)
Still Swirls:confused:

Now what?

I know you need to work the PB stuff until its almost gone, what about M105 and 205?

How slowly do you need to move the flex over the paint?

I just put the car away in the garage. I will try again in the early mornng with a clear head. Any advice or liniks to video's would be appreciated. Do I need to move to an orange pad? I was told by many at the detailing weekend that my car was in good shape and that all that was needed was minor correction.

I guess it could be me. I might be a moron. That is how I feel. I used to enjoy taking care of the car, but not I am not enjoying it !:wall

Work the flex slowly.

Now how did you get swirls? It was gorgeous a couple of months ago.(but i know mine has some swirls now too) Are you seeing the swirls in the sun, or just under halogen?

Try the 2.5 with an orange pad first, then 1.0 with a white pad.

I do not know. My wash technique is good ( I think)?

I see the swirls under the halogen. No sum out late in the day. Did my wife's MDX this morning. No correction necessary. Just a good wash and another coat of UPGP. That stuff is so friggin easy to apply.

I am going to turn in for the night soon and hit the car again real hard. If I can't get the swirls out I am going to stell wool the paint until it looks like a DeLorian!

Well before you kill yourself, take it out in the sun tomorrow and look. If you see em then, go to the orange pad.

If 2008 is a daily driver, I think going to perfection (no swirls) is not likely going to be rewarding for the effort expended (sorta like learning golf).

If you cannot see the swirls in the sun or difficult to see without really trying, I would declare it done and start enjoying it. In the garage with lights, you can see all sorts of things that make the paint less than perfect.

Post some pics.

Agreed! I am looking for a 90% correction. Since its a DD I realize that it can't be 100%. I will post some pics. I snapped a few but have not figured how to reduce the resoloution. They are too big to post right now.

X-2 An old guy told me when I started doing this over 20 years ago, NEVER LET A CUSTOMER SEE THE CAR UNDER FLORESENT LIGHTS. It seems the lights pick up things that natural light will not.

Sounds like you are in good shape after all...:howdy

I guess I had never thought about it like that Bill. Halogens are always brought up, so I thought my flouresents were 2nd or 3rd rate. I use the reflection of the flouresents to check my progress.I use the get down low method at somewhere arond 10% to the vehichles surface, lighting across from me. I need more lighting somewhere along the line, it most likely will be more flouresents though, as halogens are just to overpowering for me.

Get a little more aggressive. Orange pad + 105 @ speed 5 with about 15#s of pressure. If that doesn't get them then they are probably deeper than you want to go.

Have you thought about giving a wool pad a try? I believe (not sure though) that Megs created 105 to work best with wool, and at high speed. I agree with Troy about putting some pressure on your Flex - but be careful about how long you lean on it.

You can't beat a Flex for keeping "even" downward pressure on the machine. Putting that handle up front was genius......................

Great advice. :bigups I still struggle with my vehicle not being 100% perfect at times, but there's a point where you have to be realistic.
