Help a rookie out

Hello to every real detailer out there. I am a bootleg detailer looking for some advice. First of all I know close to nothing about detailing. All I know is I love a clean car. Here is my question... I recently purchased a milwuakee 5540 from ebay. I have been practicing on my beater 1994 olds. Royale. I purchased the Buff & shine tripac buffing kit. 1 wool 1 yellow foam 1 blue foam. I started out with the wool. (my car is horrible anyway) I used megs 85 Diamond cut compound. Followed by 3m hand glaze. today 1 saw the panels I did and there was little tiny bead looking things evenly spread over them. These beads just fall of with my nail. Can anyone tell me in what order things (coompounding) are done ???oh yeah the part Im embarrassed to say. I followed the hand glaze with carnauba turtle wax...( rookie) can anyone tell me where I messed up ??? PLEASE Thanks.

Do you have any pics of these "bead looking things", it would help identify what it is.

Basic rule is least aggressive combo first.
Looks llike you went right for the glory :lol
I would have atleast gone with #83 or SSR2.5 with a polishing pad afterwards to remove any marks that were left by the wool pad and #85 before moving onto the hand glaze.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. the reason I went with that combo is because thats what the local supply sold me. One more dumb question would really help me out. whats the difference between a hand glaze and a wax ???

A glaze isn't designed to give protection, they normally have lots of oils and other fillers to enhance the appearance to give it that "Deep Wet Look", but it doesn't last that long.

After the diamond cut, did you wipe the surface off with a Microfiber towel?

Sounds like there are some abrasive particles still on your paint.

Did you polish long enough for the abrasives to break down?

FWIW, i believe you need another step or 2 after the wool and the DC. I dont believe( i dont use a rotary), you can go from wool and to a mild polish such as hand glaze without anything inbetween.

I think a PC would be something you would enjoy. Hang around and check out the pics of people's success with this machine.
 
first off, wait till 3:30 am while everyone is sleeping. find that bottle of turtle wax and cover it with a plastic bag. wait till all the oxygen seeps out and then steps on it and apply lots of pressure, quite enough so that no one hears u. throw it in the trunk of ure car and drive. drive and drive until u cant drive no more. bury the sucker!

no but seriously, that stuff sucks!
 
So what should I use in between the application ? Can you name some products I can use and in which order after the DC ? Can you go down to the last step ? Should I forget the hand glaze all in all ? And oh yeah... lets never mention the TW anymore ok. I had nothing else to work with and the sun was going down on me... Thanks a lot guys I really appreciate your help.
 
I would suggest stepping down to a less abrasive polish in the Meg's product line since that sounds like what you can get locally (and what you are familiar with). They have an abrasive scale, and you can use that to get you some polish. Step down from the wool pad to a foam pad, and from there step down to less aggressive foam pads. There's some good reading on it here. :)

Don't be too embarassed about using TW. If you get the polishing down right, you could put TW on it and I'm sure most people couldn't tell a difference. There's absolutely nothing wrong with products you can pick up locally.
