I was told by a friend that he adds a capful of some liquid wax product (I don't remember the name) to his wash bucket. Anyone else heard of that and if so, what do you use?

Thanks!

What's the point of that??

I tried once to use a carwash+wax type of product and I got nothing but mess. Trash the rest after the first try.

Use a quick detailer after a proper wash. It is much easier and your mitts/towel will love you for that.

I have heard of doing this, but never tried it. Some soaps already claim to do this. I think that it would not be very effective, and just be a waste of wax. It may also cause streaking, but these are only my assumptions. Others may have actually done this.

I am wondering from the experts which polisher to purchase - a Meguiar's or Porter Cable? I am new at detailing and my cars are new, although I need to think long term. Which color pad do I need? I am a casual weekend warrior but want a great looking car. I would appreciate any thoughts as I am very confused. Thanks!

Thank you flash gordan -
Is there a reason you like the Meguiar's better?

No, theres no particular reason :Santa Smiley: Either unit will serve you well :-B

I've never used either one of these, but it seems the Megs unit gets a tad more praise then the Porter Cable. Now having said that, Porter Cable has been making tools for a very looong time. You might be better off to making a thread asking the masses what their opinion might be in this matter ;)

Welcome to Truth In Detailing Jpreslee! Both polisher's will serve you very well and don't forget our Shurhold Dual Action Polisher.

Welcome to Truth In Detailing Jpreslee.

All the above will do anything you need them to do (within reason of course)

Thanks to all for the replies. All of these sound like great pollsters. Does one have an advantage as far as weight and noise?
