Hi. My name is Rich and I am in Tampa, FL.

I'm 49 and detail only my own and my family's cars (5) and I like to do as good of a job as I can. Up until I found this forum, which I find fascinating, I have used a department store quality buffer and major brand products. I had no idea that there was so much more out there as far as high end products and machinery.

While in college (I am 49 now) I spent my summers detailing cars. A friend and I made up some flyers, distributed them, and ran our own little business detailing cars on-site. It was good money for summer work and we still look back fondly on those days. Now, that I've learned so much from this site, I realize just how bad a job we were really doing! We thought we did a great job, but with the simple gear that we were using I'm sure we should have been called The Swirl Brothers! We didn't know better.

Anyway I am finally ready to take the step and start doing a much better job. I will purchase a Porter Cable polisher/buffer, some good accessories, etc. and start finding satisfaction in the work I do on my cars!

Welcome to the site. You will find a wealth of information here. I feel the same way when I started to wash my own cars when I was much younger. What were we thinking? LOL. Happy detailing!!

Welcome...This is a great site for information. I also was looking at the PC 7424XP but I went with the Griots Garage 6" DA...Im glad I made a better choice over the Porter Cable. Enjoy your stay.
