HD Polish review!

I'll keep this short, I used the new HD Polish to take away some high spots of some 1 yr old cured Opti-Coat 2.0 (my bad...was applying it outside without adequate lighting and it was getting late, but it made for a good test for this new polish).

Beautiful new labels and bottles! HD didn't skimp on filling it up, I had to leave the cap open because it would keep spitting up polish

With a GG 6" DA and a 3.25" Optimum MF pad, I went at speed 4 and applied light pressure with only a few passes and it made very quick work of the high spot.

High spot of OC2.0 before:

Lame attempt at 50/50 of high spot after HD Polish:

Finished removing high spot after HD Polish:

Now came some trickiness... The pillars between front and rear windows (pretty sure it's some thinner single stage black paint) had some pretty bad scratches and RIDS.

Before:

After a few passes with HD Polish at speed 4 on 3.25" Optimum MF pad (RIDS still there):

So I wanted to see how HD Uno v3 complimented HD Polish (again with a 3.25" Optimum MF pad) but ran into some issues with hazing. I tried multiple speeds and pressure but couldn't get it to finish out haze-free (I didn't swap to foam just because I figured it would be a good chance for HD Polish to clear up the hazing). Here's after Uno v3 (with minimal attempts to finish out haze-free):

This is after using HD Polish to try and clear up the hazing left by the HD Uno v3. I used multiple speeds and pressures to finish out as haze free as possible, but it seemed to leave a little haze to it. It still looks better than before using Uno since the Uno took out a bit more of the deeper scratches.

And this final one was to see if Menzerna PO85RD would further remove more hazing (since I'm putting HD Polish up against PO85RD and M205 as finishing polishes). For the sake of consistency, this was again at speed 4 on an Optimum 3.25" MF pad. No discernible differences between after using HD Polish as opposed to the PO85RD, but I wanted to throw this up here so you can see.

Here was the front set of window pillars, same paint and method except this was done with more passes of *only* HD Polish.

50/50 (left pillar polished, right unpolished):

After (both pillars polished) - it could have used more correction, but this was just to see how well they'd finish out solely with the finishing polish:

Hope this review helps, I'll be doing more testing of it against M205 and PO85RD tomorrow or later on when I polish the rest of the paint. All in all, a very good polish that feels to have a slight bit more correction compared to PO85RD but a little less than M205, with the added bonus that it doesn't seem to dust or stain trim (I didn't tape off my trim just to see if it would). The working time of HD Polish feels very right (no better way to explain it), and aside from the slight issues with clearing up some hazing (which is most likely just very finicky single stage trim paint), I'm very very pleased with this product. I can't wait to test it on the rest of the vehicle!

PS - Mods, if this is in the wrong forum, please move it. Thanks in advance!

We all do things differently, but I would not try to finish down with a MF pad on any color especially on flat black. Put a black foam on the GG and see what HD POLISH will do after UNO or 105 or any other heavy hitter. Great test though, I very much appreciate your effort so far. Keep us posted.

I was tempted to use a black foam pad to try and finish it down, but I wanted consistency "for the sake of science". Plus, I didn't have any black 3" foam pads, but when I get back to the paint tomorrow, I'll probably Uno MF the other pillars quick and then finish down with a 5" black foam. Since the product doesn't stain trim, I don't have much/anything to worry about using bigger pads on small spots :)

Great test, and I understand the idea behind consistency in use. Maybe when you do the other pillars, try all of them with black foam.

To be clear, the hazing came from using Uno on a MF pad on a very picky paint (I love Uno, but this is one of those *very* rare situations it didn't work). I tried a 5" black pad with HD Polish and it did clear it up a bit more, but not perfect. This doesn't say that HD Polish isn't an amazing product, it just shows that there are finicky paints out there. Last time I ran into something like this, I used 6 different polishes and compounds on way too many different kinds of pads/speeds/pressure and it ended up being some random OTC compound that ended up finishing out haze-free (when only using the HD Polish, it did not haze the pillars). Anyway, just thought I'd be clear that this isn't to refelct on the power of this polish.

I went to the rest of the paint of the vehicle to level out a couple more high spots of the OC2.0. I tried using an LC Green pad w/HD Polish and while it cleared out the regular fine scratches, I feel that I would have better been suited to test it out with a white pad for the leveling. I didn't bother taking pictures of the green pad's progress because I knew it would work faster had I gone to the white, but instead I just went back to a 5" MF pad and made insanely quick work of the high spots. It had super fast correction and finished haze free on the rest of the vehicle, I'm pretty sure this is my new go-to finishing or single step light polish (beating out PO85RD and M205 which were my previous go-to's).

I had similar results with a car I worked on over the weekend (review to come) where the Polish didn't work out too well and I tried Speed with the same pad, and it worked out perfectly (not so much for the cut, but for the finish, I still can't get much cut out of Speed except micro marring removal and haze removal).

I have yet to get any respectable amount of correction from an AiO, even with D151 (which is reported as one of the higher correction AiOs). I'm either going to start using wool pads with AiOs (kidding) or just use OCW or OS as the LSP when doing "AiO" jobs.

We will be making some videos next week. Hopefully those will help you guys. I can't seem to come up with an example where I could say that HD POLISH may not be the answer. Wish I could see your styles.

Anyway, what car was it RZJZA80?

The problem I see is, why use an AIO if I am going to take my time to correct? Right? Might as well use a compound.

That's what I meant, just hit up the paint with a dedicated medium to fine polish, then just use a WOWA sealant like OS or WOWO like OCW. I've been messing with using OCW while buffing off LSP residue. It gets a bit streaky if I'm not careful, but I'd like to think I'm adding something to it, even though I'm probably just smearing the oils around. Anyway, I have a swirled mess of a friend's high mileage old blue vehicle to test the correction of HD Speed vs D151, and then probably end up just hitting up the whole vehicle with HD Polish or HD Uno just to show that the vehicle still has some life in its paint!

I'd love to see the results in the 151 vs SPEED. I've never used 151.

Maybe you can take some pictures?
