HD Polish review on Subaru BRZ

I posted my review of Speed a few weeks ago, and as I was using Polish yesterday I realized I was overdue for my review of this awesome product. The car I used it on was a Subaru BRZ, in Dark Grey Metallic. This color is the same as the Scion FR-S I posted earlier, and I used the same pads and polisher for both cars, with the only difference being I used Optimum polish on the Scion. So this will be a review of Polish, as compared to Optimum Polish II.

Polisher: GG 6 DA, set to speed 5-ish

Pads: B&S/Uber green pads

Temperature and humidity probably played a part in this as the day I did the Scion it was easily 144 degrees with roughly 1000% humidity, and when I did the Subaru it was in the 80s and the humidity was low enough that I didn't pay attention to it.

Working time- Hard to say between Polish and OPT, both had pretty similar working times.

Removal- Polish takes this hands down, but the temp and humidity might be a factor. FWIW, it was my first time using the OPT Polish II so I don't know if it's always that hard to remove. I was wiping harder than I normally like to get the OPT off the surface, while HD Polish was a breeze.

Cut- Polish wins again. This Subaru had many more defects than the Scion version, but using the same pad and polisher, it leveled these easily.

Finish- This one is a toss-up. The heavy metallic grey paint isn't the best for showing absolute finishing ability. I feel that HD Polish left a glossier finish, but after a couple of days between cars, it's hard to say with any certainty. I can say that on other paints, Polish has left a great finish every time. Since I'm still new to HD Polish, I'm always following it with at least two Eraser wipedowns, and so far nothing has come back on me. That's a good sign!:xyxthumbs

I've spoken with some other detailers about my recent troubles with M205, and a few agree while others are perfectly happy with 205. For me personally, I am looking for a replacement for 205 in my arsenal. Lately, Menz 106 has been filling that gap for me but I feel Polish matches 106 for finish while leaving behind a much cleaner surface. I haven't had anything stupid-soft come my way in a while (knock on wood), so we'll see how Polish handles that. Thanks for reading my silly little review, and I'll leave you with some pics!

Thanks for looking!

The before and afters look approximately the same regarding swirls/marring, but the afters of the whole car are BEAUTIFUL. Awesome color and result.

Very nice shine you ended up with. Fortunately, metallic paint is very forgiving in seeing any marring, at least easily. I also hoped Polish would replace 205 for me. I'm still experimenting with it, but it just doesn't match it with harder paints for me. The gloss it creates is create though, especially darker, solid colors.

I only included one before and after, because there was a deeper scratch visible in the pic right above the halogen. HD Polish took the deep scratch out easily. I agree though, none of the other pics showed any swirls due to the color and heavy metallic flake in it. And thank you, I really was pleased with the result too!

Thank you. As stated, I've used Polish on solid colors (black and red) and found no marring either. For whatever reason, even on hard paint I can't get my current supply of 205 to finish down any more. I don't know if it's a shelf life issue, because I clearly remember finishing down perfectly with 205 and a crimson H20 pad on a soft SS red original Miata last July. I used it on my Imola Red BMW with no micromarring either, and several solid color cars in between. I'm not doing as many corrections as some people here, so what little 205 I have left is what remains of a quart I bought early last year, and I don't know if something happened to the abrasives in that time. Regardless, my 205 seems "off" for some reason, and I don't see a need to restock when there are better options. Also, Polish seems less oily than 205, and definitely better in that regard than 106.

I'm a huge fan of Optimum Hyper Spray Polish Mike but I'll be honest with you, looking at the pictures HD Polish leaves a wetter look. And if it stays that way after IPA type wipe downs then that's a winner in my book. Don't get me wrong, bright glossy paint looks great but there's just something about a wet, glossy finish that just looks *fresh* to me. Yes I used the word fresh.

Lol, fresh is a good word sometimes. I know you'll be very happy with Polish. I think I got my order in right after you did today!
