HD Polish Replacement

I know this was discontinued dome time ago. I managed to find some new old stock and just finished up the last of it so now I need to find a replacement.

The HD polish was great in that it had some decent correction ability, was virtually dust free and finished down to a coating ready finish. I do wipe with a prep before applying a coating but the HD polish was very clean after it was broken down and wiped off.

Looking for a replacement- what do you recommend? I have M205 and its good, better for cars that needed more correction than HD polish could handle but the HD after the 205 gets me a better finish. I also Have essence and that is good but not quite as good as the HD polish finished.

Sonax has some really great polishes, imho. They can cut well if needed and all finish well. Easy to use too. Also, check out the griots boss creams. I have some on deck, but I bet their perfecting cream would suit you.

Sticking my nose in here, but--isn`t there an equivalent to the HD Polish in the 3D line? Or was the HD Polish strictly a boutique product?

I still love the results from Optimum Hyper-Polish... It will cut as long as you want it to, and finish down really clear and glossy. It`s been around so long, I hope it is still out there...
I only use my Makita Rotary on all paint work, so that might make a difference in my experiences with products...

I found a place in Canada that has new old stock so i purchased a years worth and will continue to monitor the market for a good equal.

Paid as much freight as i did for product :(

Aw gee, discontinued, huh? Wish I`d ordered another bottle when I could have :(

Should I ever polish a vehicle again, I`ll probably go with Griot`s..but I`m watching this thread to see what others think.

Same here. I`m going to go with Griot`s if I ever need to correct. Last product I touched was M101 which quite satisfied me.

Product never showed up. I got my money back but wasted a season. Now I’m just waiting to figure out my next trial finish polish.

Optimum Hyper-Polish Is sold on Amazon in a spray bottle.

Hyper Polish was originally sold in that awful sprayer and bottle...Perhaps it still is...

Always transferred it to a bottle with the great Meguiars dispenser that came out in drops, etc, depending on how hard you squeezed the bottle..

I'd give 3D AAT502 a shot.

Fermani gave me some HD Polish samples around 2017, and I can't really remember much about using them other than I used them with a Flex PE14 and blue hex logic pads. I remember it smelled great at first, then took on a "rubbery" aroma as it was worked. No big deal.

I find the AAT502 to finish better on a wider variety of finishes, than ONE or ACA520.

The only two dedicated finishing polishes I have on hand ia actually Optimum Hyper Polish and 3D AAT502. I do have ACA520, but I'm not going to continue using it as it's just too similar to 3D ONE. 3D ONE is a very valuable tool for me, in that it can do a lot just by changing the pad. So I don't want to lose that versatility.

And honeslty, it was just one vehicle where ONE, nor ACA520 would finish mar free. It was a 2017 GMC Sierra - Black. I has to switch to the AAT502 to get the finish clear and glossy. I was using Yellow and White Rupes pads on a Duetto for that project.

AAT502 Pros:
• Concentrated. A little goes very far.
• Doesn't "cement" itself to paint like some of the Rupes and Meguiar's polishes sometimes do.
• Virtually dust free.
• Very long work time.
• True show car gloss on a wide variety of finishes, consistently.
• Does not stain trim.

AAT502 Cons:
• Doesn't seem to like microfiber pads.
• Sometimes too gentle to correct more severe marring.
• Wipe off could be a little easier, but not as tenacious as ONE (ONE actually benefits from being "buffed" off like a wax).

When I tried it against Sonax Perfect Finish it looked identical to my eyes. The dust and trim friendly made it a no brainer for me.

Honorable mention is Jescar Micro Polish. The Jescar operated like a traditional diminishing style polish (think Menzerna SF4000), and follows the trajectory of wet/clogged up pads, where the 502 seems to stay cleaner overall while in use. The Jescr needs to be worked in definite sections, where the 502 can be "stretched out" across the panel.

I hate when these things happen. When beloved tools are discontinued.

The official word from 3D would probably to use 3D ONE as it was developed to replace HD Cut + and HD Polish +
