All of these plastic parts were restored using XXXXXX. XXXXXXX is a proprietary silicone-free coating fortified with an optimum blend of premium nanocermaic compounds, which allows for deep substrate penetration and superior resistance to environmental factors. XXXXXXX restores faded plastic to new with out adding any artificial gloss. Dye and pigment free.

does it wear off? does it go on streaky?</blockquote>

No. It chemically bonds to plastic so it won't 'wash off'. Typical durability is up to two years (It's been on one of our test vehicles for 18 months). It goes on 'wet', and as it cures the finish becomes less glossy. The final result is a 'low gloss'  satin finish (doesn't look greasy or oily).

Interesting

  • Can you give us the basic chemical basis for this product? (Carbon based, petroleum / oil based, solvent , etc.)
  • what type of chemical bond is it? ( ionic, covalent , polar covalent )
  • Can you show the application and prep needed?
  • Will this "stain" paint, hands, cloths, towels when applied?
  • Is there any long term durability testing other than your own.

The chemical composition of SPAM REMOVED consists of a solvent and a variety of siloxane related compounds. Here is the basic chemistry of how some of these compounds in Fade to New work. Inorganic siloxane compounds cure by a process called hydrolytic polycondensation in which an alkoxide silane hydrolyzes to generate silanol groups which subsequently condense to form the polymer network. Their exceptional bond strength (108 Kcal/mole) provides the basis for their durability and superior heat resistance. Inorganic siloxane bonds are virtually unaffected by sunlight and ultraviolet attack. The Si-O bond is already oxidized and atmospheric oxygen and most oxidizing chemicals do not affect siloxane based coatings.

Here is a brief video demonstration of how to apply Fade to New, in addition to the necessary prep. The prep consist of removing any oils or contaminates from the surfaces (either using IPA or any type of plastic cleaner). Make sure to apply in cool area out of direct sunlight. Initial curing period is 2 hours, so if you inadvertently get some on your paint or glass it should wipe off fairly easily and not cause any damage. It will not stain hands, but it will stain clothing. We recommend using the trim applicator to apply it and the disposable lint-free mf towel buff of any excess. These two items are included with each bottle. It will crystallize the fibers of normal mf towel, which is why we recommend not using one. You should always wear proper protection to avoid getting any on your self.

To put in a simple term, the product contains a siloxane resin, not to be confused with a "dimethal silicone" and requires, with other crosslinking resins, air to create the final cure of the film applied.

Based on the description it sounds very similar to CarPro Dlux, Gtechniq C4, Wolf’s Trim Coat, Nano Tech - Nano-4.

Would like to see some durability testing.

Is there a difference in this product vs. Cquartz Dlux?

Yes, chemical composition is different. Fade to New has a higher silane concentration than Cquartz DLUX. Chemistry dictates that because of this, Fade to New will penetrate deeper and bond stronger than DLUX. We are going to do a video comparison of Fade to New and DLUX.

Filmed 3 hours after application.

Yes, Fade to New is optimally formulated with a unique mix of various siloxane and silane compounds, which allows it to penetrate deeper and bond stronger than Dlux is capable of doing.

We are in the process of doing side-by-side durability testing with Fade to New and Dlux. This will be an on going process and will we be documenting durability on a month-by-month basis.

Greata results, though I think it looks a little shiny (as in oily) imo.

Some of the pictures were taken immediately after application while the product was still 'wet' and in the process of curing. The final finish is anything but greasy, more of a dark 'OEM' semi-matte look.

Welcome, have you consulted with the forum moderators? Might want to take a look at the rules of promoting a product. That being said, what is the lifespan of said product? And are there any small samples available?

I will be getting in contact with the forum moderators. Regarding this product, durability is up to two years. Unfortunately no, there is only one size offered.
