Has anyone looked into the Geomat system

I rec'd some info on this and it seems to do a good job by following county laws and what not. I have just never heard of anyone using it. I was looking to possbly open a small hand wash and this seems to work somewhat. If anyone has info on this besides their website I would be interested to know. By the way for anyone who wants a look their site is www.Geomatcarwash.info

I really do not understand what the product REALLY is. The Website is shamefully lacking in details... I don't quite understand where it would/could be employed.

From what I get, it's a semi-permanent waste water collector for sites where you cannot produce runoff. Like say a nice hotel's parking garage that offers car wash service to their clients. It looks like they're also selling the soap & everything else to do cars as well. Kinda reads like a 'business opportunity' like you would find in the back of magazines. Seems to be pretty much turnkey-you just have to find sites willing to let you set up.

I agree about the website. It does look like something that you can add as a service to hotel. With all the scares currently about water runoff it seems like this may be an option possibly in the furture. It costs about 25K which is a investment for most of us. I was talking to Al from there organization and he was explaining it, he was very enthusiatic and mentioned someone in the Carolinas that has it. I am nowhere near there but maybe someone would take a peak. It a 704 telephone area code, I guess if anyone is there I can give them the rest of the info.

I think they are trying to address pending storm water runoff regulations-

Containment Systems:

Pending regulations are in place (Clean Water Act and Ground Water Pollution) to limit the amount of contaminated water that is allowed to be discharged into storm water systems (i.e. street vehicle washing) A containment mat that will withstand the chemicals used in automobile, marine, and aviation wash and refinishing applications. Allowing water to be contained and then pumped into an optional holding tank preventing run-off contamination into rivers, lakes, bays and oceans, that will be in compliance with the discharge guidelines established by the Clean Water Act and the Environmental Protection Agency and other local regulations regarding wastewater runoff / containment.

I hope a similar ,less costly mat-like product will eventually trickle down to the serious enthusiast. I've seen mats marketed to mobile detailers but I don't know if they do exactly the same thing

Well i can assume that much of the cost is also in the warrenty of the product, but it is rather costly which is why I will pass at this time. But as time will go by I don't think the water runoff issue is not going to get better so I guess I will keep this in mind.

Wassup all. I'm curious about this Geomat also. Is there anyone here that knows if this can generate some good money? Me and some friends are looking into this and I just wanted to know if someone here has it firsthand....thanx

The Geo Mat looks like the MAT, which I own. It cost me about $1200 plus shipping. I also have the Vacuboom, but have a buyer for that as of today.

The MAT will work for a fixed location, but lugging it around all day would not be fun. You should wash the cars on the MAT and then move them off for drying and detailing. They do contain the water well. Most come with underlayment and patch kits. Be careful when moving the cars...little spurts can put holes in the MATS.

You can use a separate tank to hold the discharge...vacuum into the extra tank and then pump or empty into sanitary sewer. Some mobile guys work out a deal with local self serve washes and use their existing water clarifiers.

I should post my MAT in the for sale area and may do so since there is interest...I don't use it anymore and used it twice. If interested email me for pics.

The boom is nice and easier to move. You also don't have the issue of water remaining on the ground as it moves to the boom. It makes it easier to detail and not move cars around as much.

Good luck,

Rob

Seems to have taken a year since the first post, but the site is now much more explanatory...

Would assume it vague because like a “detailing trailer it can be constructed for half the price. If the location is in the parking garage and doesn’t have power then the cost is going to be sky high. You wouldn’t want to run a generator in a underground parking garage.
