My buddy has a 79 Mustang with leather seats. The seats turned hard and he wants to soften them up. Any sugestions? I told him to try Leatherique?
Thanks.

I never tried leathertique so dunno bout it. (lots of others here ue it a lot so wait for them to chime in.

I did a the big ford P/U and used saddle soap. seemed to work well

Thanks Ron. He had stored them with plastic around them for a while and they hardened up. Don't know how long they were stored tho. I know the older leather seats are different than today's seats.

leathertique may be best---- dunno

or maybe some sort of leather oil to re-hydrate them (neats foot or similar)
(but honestly I aint got a clue)
good luck

Anybody else have any idea?

I've used leatherique for years and haven't had one issue with it...It's some work to start off with but well worth the effort on older seats or hard leather.

The website has a ton of application pics and such or uTube has plenty as well..

Thanks Beemerboy. I heard conflicting reports about Leatherique. Some not so good. Some good. I still want to try it for myself

Dave's right, I also would recommend using Leatherique in helping cleaning and softing up / re-hydrate the hard leather you have.

Leatherique will definitely soften the leather up. What it does is it puts a lot of nutrients back in the leather that come out from daily use. I've used it a few times, and if you follow the directions to the T you will get great results. This means no humidity, has to be at least warm, and you have to let it sit for at least 8 hours. The longer you let it sit, the better it will work.

You can also check out leather masters. I haven't used it, but a lot of members on here like it.

i buy leatherique by the gallon now. i will soften the seats but you must get them warm or even hot and let it work. 24 hours is much better than just 8. i live in oregon and that is the only downside to this product. you will be amazed at what it can and will do. if i lived in Las Vegas or Phoenix i could make a living on leather seats with this stuff.

I have had amazing results with Leatherique on hard seats. I worked on an original leather interior Lamborghini Espada about 5 years ago. When I started the seats were cardboard stiff. I applied Rejuvenator Oil and let it soak in over night.

The seats still felt stiff so I added more Rejuvenator Oil. It completely soaked in the second application, so I added a third. Finally I got some "return" on the oil. I cleaned it with Leatherique Prestine Clean and the seats were much much softer.

It is an amazing product, when used as directed on stiff seats. Extremely impressed and I would recommend it to anybody!
