Grateful for all that have posted above. Thank you, good men !!!
It is so very interesting as we all reflect back on independence and freedoms we enjoy today, to remember how it all started on April 30, 1789 at the inauguration of George Washington, our Nation's first President--
He called for a Bible.. He raised his right arm to the square, while placing his left hand upon the sacred book..
After repeating the constitutional oath, he declared, "So help me God", then bowed down reverently and kissed the Bible..
He then said " The propitious smiles of Heaven, can never be expected on a Nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained"..
He then joined the throngs of people cheering below in the street, and led them in a procession through the city and right into a beautiful house of worship - St. Paul's Chapel.
He gathered the newly elected senators and representatives of this new nation.
What might be called the first joint session of Congress in the United States then commenced..
It consisted of a prayer in a church...
I love reading and learning of these great men, who set the bar at an obtainable level for all to reach if we would want to..
Love you good men, thanks for all that you do for all of us!
