The Challenge

This is my 1988 Chevy Caviler, I bought it from a friend about 4 years ago. She never took care of it and the inside and out side were trashed. I need it to drive to work (I work in a dirty factory) so I bought it from her for $200. That is less than I paid for ONE back tire for the camaro! Since then I have never washed her or swept her out.. I go from one extreme to another with the cars, this one is the beater if you want to call it that. If I had trash or a coke that I was done with it went in to the back seat, never cleaned it out. Ya it was looking real sad.........

Well today I did my Autopia duty and started on the inside, the seats and the floor boards are stained really bad from the oils that I work around, so I could’nt get them all out But I did my best...

I know that many of you wouldnt been seen dead in this car, but if you worked with me you would think that it was the best investment I ever made:)

thease are harsh so dont start crying or freaking out.....

I let it get preaty bad so I could try my self out on some of the hardest detail tasks that I have ever challenged

WOW. Great before and after pics! :xyxthumbs You gotta do the outside and engine bay now. Do the same before and after type pics on it. ;)

we'll see what I can do. it is in really bad shape..........:( May be to the point of no return

puterbum and Redcarguy - Its probably past the point of the PC polisher. Maybe time for a wool pad and rotary with a polish (3M Finesse it II FM or maybe one of Meguiars #'s.) The follow up with a PC and finer polish. Then seal and/or wax. Red car guy sounds like a good car to practice on.

By the way,

Great before and afters. What home brew did you use?

I think that I will prob let the Paint go...It is fun to be able to park where I want with it and not care what people do to it... Also I have <em class='bbc'>not missed[/i] a few objects:rolleyes: with it and that is fun too....(shoping carts, cones, other stuff you wouldnt hit with a regular car)lol Hahahahahaha:D

For home brew it was a little mix of dawn, Simple green, power purple and <strong class='bbc'>HOT[/b] water....

<span style='font-size: 14px;'>OH MY GOSH!!!!!!! That was one mess! Yuuuuukkkkk!!!!! I had to stop and wash the sticky mess off my computer screen it was so bad! I think I could smell the old french fries and banana peels, too!

You did an amazing job!:bow

Good stuff! Think of it as a "Stealth" detailing project. Perfect interior only! The paint almost looks radar absorbing! ;)

You are a brave man for posting those pics here on the boards. That thing was nasty! But it looks like you've done a great job with the interior.

Don't feel bad, though. There are other Autopians with really nasty interiors. But I'm sure they're turning the corner towards cleanliness, aren't they Steve?

ok redcar...... thems some nasty pics, man!!

so what, you dont use the satty as a beat-up?

anyways yeah that paint is not clearcoat, and any rubbing would actually remove the paint, IMHO.

BTW what are you using to get those nice 'vacuum marks' in the carpet?? I've always wondered because I hate that I cant get those kinda results! (meaning the dark/light interchanging thing)
