I found this duster at "Dollar Tree". (Everything used to be a dollar... now up to $5.00)

For 2 bucks I figured I could find a use for it...

On my daily driver, I clean the wheels every day. Sometimes the wheels just have a little road dust on them so it's not necessary to use a wet wash or even detail spray...

So........I thought I'd try this little duster from Dollar Tree:

As you can see, there isn't much room between the caliper and the wheel (less than 1/2", but the duster fits fine!)

I've been dusting them daily to keep even the backside looking fresh!

If they are chrome plated, they have to be cleaned regularly, otherwise the chrome plating will start to bubble. I've had many sets of chrome wheels. It didn't take long to reallize that, if you keep chrome clean, it will last a long time.

What should I use to clean and polish chrome plated wheels?

Welcome to TID Camaro.mom, P21S Wheel Gel Cleaner is a very safe wheel cleaner you can use on your rims. On the polishing part you can use to polish your chrome with Meguiar's Hot Rims Chrome Polish, Mothers Chrome Polish and the Mothers PowerBall Set.........:wizard:

you clean your wheels every day? That's insaine! My BMWs dust like crazy, and daily driver ('99 Infiniti I30) dusts quite a bit too, but I only clean them when I wash the car...and yes, I always use wheel cleaners, never just soap and water...

I also have a BMW that dusts badly. I coated my wheels with Wheel Wax, and now I just clean them with a demoted MF on a daily basis. It works really well.

Bill, it looks like a mini California Duster. Pretty cool!

You gotta understand. Bill is retired, sitting at home collecting that big ole pension check each month :money:

Funny, my wife tells me the same thing:out:

After further research, my tires have chrome plated plastic rims attatched. I guess this is what Chrysler did to save money but still have a nice looking wheel. Should I use the same cleaner and wax you recommended. Also do you like the gel cleaner better than the regular solution of the p21s? thanks for your help in advance.

Yes you can still use either on your plastic rims. I prefer the liquid over gel mainly because its easier to work with :2 cents:

BTW, Welcome to Truth In Detailing. Hope to see you around

They also have some nice MF mitts that I get 10 at a time. Their tire dressing is awesome for wheel wells.....32oz. for a buck is pretty good in my book!

Yep, I have a few of the small mits from there I use for engines & wheels

Yeah, I've used their tire dressing for wheel wells... it works "well".:devil:

I have a bottle of the dressing. I tried it on a tire 1 time...Total Junk. I never did try it on the wells, I will look to see if I can locate the bottle and give it a go :soldier:

They use to have M/F towels. I must have over a 100 of them. They were 2 for $1. They are perfect for applying interior dressing, wiping down engines and tires/wheels :Santa Smiley:

They also have 2 different size blue painters tape. I use it often and have Never had a problem with left over residue/glue. 1 thing I do regardless if its 3m tape or dollar store tape is just kinda lay it on the trim/edges and at the base run my thumbnail gently to secure :Snowman:

These are things I will skimp on. Leaves more :money: for quality polish/wax/sealants/leather treatments :wizard:
