Has anyone noticed that when you have halogen lights on in your garage it cause streaking on the car you are working on? I have this problem, maybe not the lights??? when I work with halogens. so installed some flourescent lights that I got from Lowe's for $8.40 each.

I understand that the brightest lighting you can get is an 8ft flourlescent with a 96 watt bulb, is this true?

Dunno about what lights are the brightest, but I doubt it's a fluorescent tube. Counting only the 8 foot long ones, I have (as I recall) 48 110w cool white tubes in my garage, and IMO they aren't all that bright.

Halogens haven't caused any streaking trouble for me, but I don't let them get close enough to the paint to really heat it up (that's the only way I can imagine them causing that).

Zillions of posts about lighting; *I* use three types- fluorescent, halogen, and high-wattage incandescent.

I have been using 2 x 500W hallogens and no streaking .. they don't get closer than 4' from the surface.
