Hackers at it again

You would not believe how bad we just got hacked. I spent all day rebuilding the site and recovering data.:passout:

Actually that's not true. :(

I, being the impatient and computer savy person that I am, tried to change servers and accidentally switched over to the new one before it was ready. To make matters worse, when I saw that the site was down I tried to switch back to the old server. Little did I know each time I switch the domain to a different server it takes time for it to happen.

So I played the hurry up and wait game with all the experts telling me to just wait for the site to come back up. Well I don't know why, but the site did not get copied to the new server properly so I was waiting for nothing:wall . Finally decided to switch it back to the old server last night. So I apologize for my ignorance and pig-headedness. It was another valuable learning experience for me.

So it turns out that I am the hacker this time. The hard way seems to be the only way I learn things these days.:surrender

Sounds like an inside job to me.

Hey, I was right! :yay

It had to be a stressful day especially when you knew you were the cause. Correcting someone else's mistakes is always much more enjoyable than correcting your own.
Glad to see things back in operation. :)

I thought Dwayne forgot to to tell you about that certain button he once pressed in RED

DO NOT TOUCH !!! :lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2:

That couldn't be further from the truth in my experience.

I'm sorry that your plan backfired on you Troy, but it's great to see that everything is back up and running.

they always say the first step is admitting the truth (and thus your fault) , never got any further however so dont know what to tell you the second step will bring. :hmmm: :hmmm: :hmmm:

so are we up to stay this time:confused::hmmm::inspector:

We are hopefully. I still want to switch servers but I am going to have someone who knows what they are doing do it for me. Shouldn't be any down time involved if you do it right. This server just isn't as good as I want.

When I switched hosts/platforms for my site, I forgot that I would lose email for the period that the DNS was switching. That scared the crap out of me, but as far as I can tell, I didn't miss much mail.

Ok we are going to be switching to a new server today and I've turned the job over to one of my programmers. It might actually work this time if I'm not involved.

Everything should be seemless. In other words, there shouldn't be any down time if everything goes right.
