I have an 8500 and it has not failed me yet. I like the smart cord and some of the above mentioned features. I am sure the V1 is also a nice unit and may purchase one in the future. The only feature I would like is the arrows but I'll make do.

I like the arrows...once you get used to them it is hard not to have them anymore........

Everyone I know who has tried both Valentine One and Passport 8500 prefers the V1. The kicker is ALWAYS the arrows:

Once you actually see the arrows in use, you will never want to go to any other detector.

But aren't those arrows just going to cause cops to harrase you? At night time you might as well put a L.E.D. circle around the arrows, and then smaller and smaller ones.

I know on my El' cheapo Whistler I dim the unit display when on the highway all alone to avoid police harrasment. If both units are very similiar in detection, and the Escort has less falses and the ability to be less visable then to me that is a huge advantage.

NAh....how is a cop gonna see the inside of your car at night when you are driving 70mph.....only way would be if he pulled up on your butt.........Put it high up on windshield and wire it in with wire hidden and you should have no porblems.....

Not in my truck there is some trim in the rear which kinda hides it plus my rear window is dark from factory....so you cannot see it in night ...in the day it kinda shows up but as blob....

Ah, well I ordered the 8500 because I personally like the features more than the V1. I can't wait to try it!
