gum remover

what is the best gum remover out in the market today? I have to work on a 2003 honda civic with several spots of gum embedded into the carpet. thanks.

If it is fresh, put an ice cube on it, wait a few minutes and try to peel off as much as possible. I use Gum off for the residue and old stuff and it works well. If you have WD40 on hand that should work pretty good.

I don't have a link handy, but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a gum remover on Topoftheline. I've never used a gum removing product though.

I use a product called gum remover, and it's basically liquid nitrogen in an aerosol can. It freezes the gum, and you can pull it out. Another trick that works is put on some plastic gloves, and put some solvent based tire dressing on your gloves, and use this to pull it off. The dressing won't allow the gum to stick to the gloves, and allows it to release.

An inexpensive way that works is to use either wet ice or dry ice and harden the gum so that it "cracks' off.

Or, you can purchase at any discount store, Mottsenbacher's Lift OFF. It works extremely well. Spray it on the gum, let it set and voila. you can peel the gum right off the upholstery or carpet.

These work nice in conjunction with any lite solvent. I like to use Xenit from Stoner's or OK Solvent from Ardex.
