GTI Gets new shoes too!

Shame on me for not posting pics earlier, I have had these on the car for about a month now. The wheels are 18" Flik Wasp-A with 225/40/18 Falken Azenis ST115. I have to say that these tires are IMO just plain awesome. Of course, the only thing I have to compare them to is the factory Michelins. Dry traction is great, it actually takes effort on my part now to spin the tires. They do tramline a little on grooved roads, but no biggie. Wet traction is far better than the stock tires too, I have yet to experience even mild hydroplaning when driving through deep puddles.

I ordered these wheels through Edge Racing. I must say that customer service could be a little better, but their prices and shipping are very reasonable. The only problem I had was when I received the wheels, they had included the wrong centering rings. I called that day and ordered the correct size which they said I would receive in two days. When the correct rings arrived, I opened the package to find that they only sent me one ring. I was a little upset to say the least, these wheels had been sitting in my shop for three days now, and I really wanted them on my car. They overnighted four more rings to me, and everything is now fine.

Anywho, on to the pic. I apologize for the bad lighting and what not, it was getting late when I got home to snap some pics (of which, only one is really worth showing). The car is a little dusty too, so please forgive that. Hopefully I'll get to go out this weekend and find a good place for a photo shoot.

I like, I love the color of the car! I have to think it would look sweet with a set of big chromes as well... Good work!

Oh yea!!!!!! :bow Nice color combo. I Reaaaallly, reaaaallly like that look. :xyxthumbs

When I ordered my wheels from Edge Racing they were out of stock on the chrome lug nuts. Yesterday I received a Next-Day shipment of a set of lugs! Woohoo. Now I need to get them off the kitchen table and on the car.

Thanks for all of the compliments guys! I'll have to get close up pics later, right now I need to pull off the wheels and really clean the brake calipers - they are dirrrty. :o

I also bought a GTI - here is a picture from the dealer:

I can't wait until spring to install this stuff - the wind chill was -16 this morning! I went with Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s.

Copycat! :D

Is that Tornado or Matchstick red? Looks like you have accumulated some goodies for the new baby too. Right now I have the Eibach Pro System and an O-bar swaybar installed.

The wheels will look great on your car, make sure to post pics when you have everything installed. :xyxthumbs

The color is Flash Red. The car came with a Neuspeed exhaust, short throw shifter and P-Flo intake. Since buying the car in December, I have painted the calipers red, bought a Neuspeed rear sway and the Fliks - both of which I hope to install in the next couple of weeks. I also hope to do the "half Joey mod" to the headlights soon.

Future mods might include a Revo Chip or some suspension work. However, I am hoping to resell the mods I make if I sell the car which would be hard with the chip or coilovers.

I will definitely post some updated pics soon.

Wow...It's cool to see some fellow GTI owners!! Nice rides btw. I've just started to get into detailing as a hooby and have been lurking the boards for a while now. Your gonna love modding your dubs. It's about as addicting as detailing!! Here are some pictures of mine...

I'll chime in, wife drives an 01 GTI VR6.

We love that car! I've been fighting the urge to drive the new R32...

Hey Anthony, what do you use on your tires? they look good

I'm usually using two coats of 303 Aerospace Protectant. Spray one coat, let it dwell maybe 10 min, wipe with a terry, then spray a second coat and don't wipe. And I intentionally overspray it on the wheels and wipe off with a terry. Brightens them up a lil.
