Anyone seen the TV ads for something called GT29? Or some such name...

it's supposed to fill scratches, has anyone ever tried this stuff?

GS-29. Total trash:down .

Several years ago I brought some. It is basically a rubbing compound ( very harsh) with some filling oils. Another case of, "if its looks too good to be true..." :wavey

You mean GS27. I beg to differ on the 'total trash' comment. It is basicly the same thing as Meguiar's ScratchX. I've been using it for years. You can get it in most autoparts stores. Its not meant to be used on the entire car. Just small areas at a time. I use it for areas where paint has swapped in a door ding and things like that. I also use it to repair some minor scratches. Personally I think it works very well. It has blown people away with some of the things it has done.

Those results are by hand. I could have gotten even better results if I had been able to use a PC on that. It wasn't an option at the time unfortunatly. You can see that it does make a difference. I'd get the ScratchX instead of the GS27 though. There is usually about 5 dollars difference between the two. They essentially do the same thing. Try searching for GS27. You'll find more about it. :xyxthumbs

I may have been a little harsh by calling it" trash" but I can get better results by using a SMR, polish and PC (by hand if not very deep). For a 20/20 car ( 20mph/ 20 feet away) GS-27 will do fine. On black it is completely useless. Never tried Meg's Scratch X because it too is "make-up" rather than repair. From viewing DFTowel's car pix's I doubt he would be a candidate for either of these products.:wavey

Well, every product has its purpose I guess. Some products can serve purposes that they were never really designed for. The purpose of ScratchX and GS27 is to repair minor scratches and remove minor damage like paint swapping. I'm sure SMR could do the same thing and that any product on a PC would do a great job, but I still think that GS27 and ScratchX do what they were designed to do. I would only every try it with any expectation of stunning results on the most minor of problems. Anything more serious than a rub or a scratch from driving to close to a bush should probably be taken care of with something stronger than these.
