I have a 2013 FR-S. Its Silver so this issue may have been present from the factory And I didn't notice it. The gloss and DOI look fine but when I waxed it I noticed a very rough surface on half of the hood/pillar/top of fender on the drivers side. It feels like there is no clearcoat to the touch, but looking at it does have clearcoat.
I suspect dry clear overspray from the factory. Is this common (the car is made in a Subaru factory)?
My main concern is the surface tension isn't right in these areas and I am afraid in 5 years it will be stained/chaulky if I don't restore the finish.
I don't want to bother with fighting the dealer, prefer to fix myself (warranty be damned.) Worst case I will just repaint it.
But I have a porter and meg 105/205. Should I try to polish this out or would this require a wetsand/rotary buff ?
