Grout sponge (revisited)

Just used the Lowe's GS using the two bucket method and I must say........I'm not impressed with this sponge. The primary reason is it's lack of water retention. Soft? Yes but One swipe on a panel and it's out of water/lube/wash/etc...

This of course is JMHO, but it's a no go for me. Too much dipping back and forth to keep it wet. Worth a try at $.97 tho. Anyone else feel like this?

I get more suds than water. This is one of the reasons I like it. I rinse after each panel anyway though.

Yeah me too, but it just doesn't "feel" like it's doing anything lubricating wise? With the sheepskin/chenille mitts, it just seems more lubricating. I don't know..... the GS just seems a little light in the a$$.

No problems when using ONR, just traditional wash.....maybe it's just me

I use a foam cannon. And with the GS, i really don't see a problem with its retaining water and what not...........

i squeeze the sponge and slowly release when it's in the bucket, and it agitates a good amount of suds and soapy water (you can slowly release the soap solution as you go over the panel) the more you do it. what may work for some may not work for others...

Yes I've tried that as well, but.......It just doesn't feel like there's enough lubrication to glide across the paint, at least for me. For a buck I'll give it a couple more tries tho. MF covered sponge/chenille/sheepskin still better IME.

Your recommendations are always thoughtfully appreciated.

wow, for $1 i would buy a few more. my local lowes sells them for $1.87 a piece...

p.s. the GS isn't for everyone and if you prefer a different wash media, then stick to that...

The Lowes in Gilroy had them @$.97 ea. last month and I picked up 2 just on a humbug. Your right tho, It's not for everyone on a traditional wash. With ONR it works great, so I'll be using them strictly with onr. You never know if you don't try different methods.

I got mine from home depot and i know what your talking about, just doesnt soak up alot of water and 1 swipe and you got to go back to the bucket to wet it again. wish sheepskins were still at walmart

Still using HDGS's.:)

Holy crap, there's SpoiledMan! Haven't seen ya in a while buddy!

FWIW, I follow BigAl's technique when using the GS. I didn't know they were selling for $.97!!! I drop by there at least every other week for something and I thought they were still regular price. I'll have to check it out.

That was last month, and I don't recall if it was a sale or mis-priced, but either way, if you like GS as your go to, then by all means.......

BigAl's technique is great, but just not enough water retention for me. Again......thats just me, were all different.:usa

I'm back.:) I was under the weather for a few weeks but back at it again. I've learned to get more rest and do a little less.
