What are the thoughts on the Grit Guard?
I personally don't use one and really don't see any need for it, but......

I have one, but I don't use it anymore. I didn't really see any big benefits and I don't leave my Shmitt(sp?) in the bucket anyways.

I have been using one for some time now, as I do rub my wash mit against it, believing that it takes what ever is on it off.

Now with that being said I use the two bucket method anyways and I am not sure it is really even necassary.

I guess it's just another step to potentially prevent marring... It wouldn't be the end of the world if I didn't use one ...

I think we just discussed this pretty thoughly

I like them and always use them..call it piece of mind..whether they work or not ;)
Yes, but with a poll, people can get an idea as to the general opinion of the product without needing to read 19 posts to find out.
Also, the thread title "Gridguard floating and not staying on the bottom of the bucket"(Spelling is direct from that thread), doesn't give much information as to any discussion of the value of the product.

You didn't cast your vote. :)

all true points :rockon no but i will now ;)

It's now obvious how members regard the Grit Guard.
As of right now, 9 votes have been entered and the overwhelming preference has been 3 for each.

Looks like it's going to be about like asking which wax/sealant is best. :D

Ineffective product in my opinion. Have tested it several times, with no benefit seen at all. Use the money saved to buy Bug Squash.

I use one since it came with the bucket that I purchased. Is it worth it? Probably not. I am with Budman that it is just another item that I use in the prevention of marring.

I have one and it floats on the top of the bucket, so I guess its working...it keeps me dipping into the dirty part on the bottom and even into the bucket.

Don't use it anymore

I have two that were given to me as presents. I use them both, as ever little bit helps. I especially like to use the one in my bucket that I use for wheels, tires, and wheel wells. Even after thoroughly rinsing off the brushes after each wheel, I toss them in the bucket. If there is anything left in the brushes, it goes to the bottom of the bucket. I have checked the bucket afterwards, and even with my careful rinsing, there is still some "crap" in the bottom of the bucket. This helps keep it off the wheels.

I'm usually super careful when I rinse my mitts that I use on my paint, so I don't really need the one in that's in the "paint" wash bucket.... but what the heck... might as well use it. :D

It might deserve a different thread, but do all of you use the "2 bucket" method of washing?
Seems like 2 Grit Guards should be used if you do.

:bow:bow every little bit of prevention helps :)

I think every one should have one it is great to just rub the mitt on it at the bottom. Its much better than picking all the little stuff off with your hand. Weather or not it keeps the grit at the bottom idk, but i like it for scrubbing my wash mitt on after i take it off the paint.

I use them and like them a lot. Before I found the Grit Guard product I used an old kitchen colander to get the same affect. I jumped at the purchase when I found them. My previous car was midnight blue and my current car is black. ANYTHING to help prevent swirls and scratches I like. (guess you guys can figure out how I voted.)

My 2 cents....I think it is as most have said; a psychological thing. I have one that doesn't float to the top and love it. I know that when I'm through washing, using the 2 bucket method, I have a bunch of dirt in the bottom of my bucket...that is dirt that is not in my mitt or back on the vehicle.

I figure that using the two-bucket method and using your free hand to 'scrub' the napp while agitating it in the rinse bucket should work just as well.
