griotts waxes

~One manâ€â„¢s opinion / observations~

Iâ€â„¢ve used Griotâ€â„¢s Best of Show (BOS) and their Carnauba paste wax with great results. They both need (especially BOS) to be applied super thin for good results

What Iâ€â„¢ve also found to work well; Carnauba paste wax, let it dry and then apply BOS, hard work to remove but worth it.

~Hope this helps~

As you can see, opinions differ about the GG waxes. TOGWT and 2001civicex like the BOS a lot, others (myself included) don't. Too hard to use, nothing special looks-wise, and not very long lasting *in my experience*. But there are plenty of people who like the stuff.

BOS is the only GG product that i am not to hip on.A lot of work to remove even applied thin and the results are nothing special.I like there polishes and there QD but that one product gets me.they also have a carnuba product for about $20 which smells like grape and is a pure carnuba which I like to use but your car has to prepped perfectly

I have extensive experience with BOS and the liquid Carnauba wax from them and they suck frankly. Both are hard to remove, have low depth of gloss and reflectivity. They also scored very low in the Guru tests.

I strongly recommend you try other boutique brands like Pinnacle and P21S/S100. Less effort and more shine I think you will find.

I used the BOS by hand. I felt the results were satisfactory. In my opinion it was very difficult to remove. Iâ€â„¢ve since stepped up to using a PC. Perhaps I would achieve very different results now but Griots did indicate being able to use BOS by hand.

I do however really like their sheep skin was mitt.

Just my opinion though.

I concur with those above who say Best of Show is difficult to work with. I've used it both by hand and by PC. Leave it too long and you have to work like a SOB to remove the residue. I quite like their carnuaba paste wax though.

They actually say it's pure carnauba? I think they mean it contains pure carnauba, because there's nothing pure about carnauba if it smells like grapes. :)

From Griot's website

CARNAUBA PASTE WAX...THE HIGHEST GRADE OF CARNAUBA WAX AVAILABLE

Carnauba in its natural state is about as hard as a brick and needs petroleum distillates, mineral spirits, and other ingredients to make it soft enough to apply to your paint. You've seen other waxes advertised as "100% carnauba wax," but unless you are buying it in brick or chip form, it's just plain false advertising. Truth is, the maximum amount of carnauba that you can put in a paste wax is about 30%.
