Griot's Yellow MF cloths

I received some Griot's MF cloths today and noticed that one side is much more plush than the other. Does this mean only the plush side should me used on the paint? Sorry if it's a stupid question, i've never used MF before. :nixweiss

I would think so, it just makes sense but then again who the hell would make a towel that you can only use one side you know...

I would give it a shot on a few areas of the car, see if it swirls, if not then don't use it.

How soft is the other side?

Yes, the plush side is the one to use (at least IMHO). You can use the reverse side for scrubbing (always being careful, of course) stubborn areas.

I'nm not sure why the towels are made this way, but it seems to be a fact of life among MF towels. I'm assuming that it's a manufacturing issue, just similar to when a rug is weaved.

Thanks for the replies guys. Joed, the back side still seems soft but much less plush than the other. Jimwh, do other brands of MF towels share these same 2 diff sides properties? I tried searching the archives but couldn't find any discussion on it.

I got MFs fro yosteve.com and from microfiber.org

The ones from yosteve do have a very plush side, and a not so plush side. I do use the plush side for buffing an QD.

With my yosteve order i got a mini MF towels that has the same not so plush texture on both sides.

Also I just got 14x40 MF towels from microfiber.org and they have the no so plush texture on both sides. I have just tried them to dry my hands and they do dry very well. Will check them on a CD before trying them on my cars.

Jason, I have only purchased towels from CMA and I have one given to me by a fellow Autopian. That towel went by the name of CleanStar.

All of the MF towels that I have, except for the waffle weave Big Blue Drying Cloth have a plush and non-plush side to them. I will assume that others will be manufactured the same.
