I recently received a new GG V3 from Griot's. I used it for the first time yesterday on a boat. I was using a 5" pad, mostly on speed 5. I think I'm holding this polisher a little differently because of the redesigned head, but I don't remember my Professional (V1 or V2?) GG6 getting as hot as this one is. The black metal area where you attach the backing plate is pretty warm and the metal pieces on the backing plate can get downright hot, almost burning my hand. Is this normal? Does gelcoat create more friction, leading to higher temps?
