How many times does it come up? "how do you remove wax from trim?" or "How do you fix faded trim?"

I decided to do a little step by step writeup for our members.

Items Needed

Mr Clean Magic Eraser
Water ( i prefer in a fine mist spray bottle )
MF towels
Trim Restorer/Dressing
Foam Painters Brush

1. Here is your faded trim with oily wax stains.

To prep this trim for restoration I lightly sprayed the trim with some water and then very lightly ranthe magic eraser over the trim making sure not to come in contact with the paint. I made sure to wipe of all excess from the trim after the eraser.

2. Here is half the trim done.

I used VRT on this trim with a foam painters brush to brush it on. After letting it dwell for about a minute i wiped off the excess with a MF towel. If your trim is really dry and thirsty you might want to follow up with another coat of dressing.

3. Here is the Trim fully done.

Trim restoration is not that hard if you just take your time and pay attention to details.

Actually I think it was an explorer but a ford none the less.

Yeah, now that I look at it, the trim on my F150 was wider... all of them are a pain to clean. The one you did looks very nice.

I have used trim restorer before but yesterday i put it on with a foam paint brush, an i must say it works awsome. Nice write up i will have to try the magic eraser

you can give poorboys trim restorer and shot. I think you could also use poorboys Natural Look or BnB but I think your best shot would be with trim restorer for poorboys. If you have meguiars #40 you can try that but that product sometimes doesnt jive with trim and leaves it streaky and discolored.

Mr Clean. Dont get the ones in the auto section. They are the same but cost more than the original magic erasers.

I have something of a sutpid question. Is there a special coat that comes on the trim used to surround the windows? I was looking at GregCavi's write up and I went out yesterday and tried it. I took the Magic Eraser and tried to do just one of my windows. A little presure was required as I believed that the trim had never been treated, its a new "used" car. The trim came to be a nice uniform healthy black color. I went through half the pad on this one piece of rubber. Satisfied with the results from the Eraser, I set out to restore/protect the trim. I first used some Poor Boys Trim Restorer, I let it sit for about 5min and buffed it off, it was flat black like I just used the eraser on it. So I wiped it all off and figured I'd try some Turtle was 21 trim protectant that I had. It too went back to flat black after I buffed it off. This time I put some Black to Black on, the product says its UV activated so I have not buffed it off yet. I am hoping that the rubber will absorb it and give a nice uniform shine that won't run off. It is possible that the rubber around my window is so hard that trim just doesn't want to absorb any product??? Is there anything that can penetrate such rubber.

yes i belive there is usually a coating on the rubber. I believe AIO is the best way to dress trim after the magic eraser. It gives the best uniformaty.
