For some reason I let a few people occasionally ride in the back seat of my 02 M3. With the black interior, there are a few small scuff marks behind/on the side of the passenger seat from shoes, etc. This is like a hard vinyl type material or something, I'm not sure.

Any way to make this appear a little more like new?

Sounds like a job for 303 or Vinylex. Either should give you a nice matte finish, although the Vinylex is probably a little shinier.:up

:up you might try rubbing alcohol, but try with a Q-tip on a inconspicious area first

Seems that Castrol Super clean might do the trick

Allso Simple Green professional strength could be an option
