Hello everyone. New guy here looking to learn a thing or two from the experts about how to detail my vehicles. I currently own a 2015 Challenger SRT 392 in Ivory White Pearl Tri-coat and a 2015 Yukon XL in Onyx Black. I have always been a little neurotic when it came to keeping my vehicles relatively clean, but have been relegated to doing almost everything by hand. I finally decided it was time to time to pick up a DA polisher and some better quality products so that I can take my neurosis to the next level. I think it was mostly driven by the fact that my time is precious on the weekend and in most cases I am struggling to get both of my vehicles washed and protected before Monday. Not to mention that after spending nearly 10-12 hours on the Yukon I still see swirls and holograms staring back at me like I almost did nothing at all. My body would be wore out from washing and waxing all day to only have mediocre results which was frustrating to say the least.
A little about myself, I am Active Duty Air Force stationed in South Dakota as an aircraft mechanic (I can be more specific if someone is curious) on the B-1B Lancer. My previous airframes were the C-130H and the C-17A. I have been married for over a decade with a few kiddos hanging around and I have about five years left until I hit my 20 year mark and retire. Needless to say I have the Yukon XL for the family and my Challenger as my daily driver. My Challenger was also something that I have wanted for many years since they were reintroduced in 2008. I told myself that one day I will have one and now I finally do. The car is a beast as a daily cruiser, show car, and all around people magnet. I am not a die hard Mopar fanboy, however, as I have spent nearly all my life in a GM vehicle. I appreciate all different vehicles, yes even the Mustangs, just as long as I can stand being around their owners. In many cases a Mustang owner can be really stressfull to be around. I know my SRT is not the fastest kid on the block, but it turns heads and it makes me feel like a rock star when I am out driving around in it. I think thats all that counts.
Lastly, I picked up a Torque 10FX and various polishing products from Chemical Guys during a sale they had and I am here because their forum seems to be a dead a good bit of the time. I have watched more Youtube videos than I can count and I would like to meet other enthusiasts/detailers that I can learn from when it comes to this detailing art. My main source of ire is my Yukon XL which is Scratch Black, ehmmm, sorry, Onyx Black. I plan to put up a post with some pictures showing my first time out using my polisher and the results that I got. I have to say I am overall happier than my results I get by hand, but there is still work to be done I think. Without further adieu here are a couple pics of my rides.
