Green Cyclo Polishing Pads

I'd be interested in the 4" LC pads as well. I got some 4" cyclo(?) pads from TOL a while ago, and I don't think they are very good. The yellow cutting pad is ok, but I think the green polishing pad is of some weird foam and marrs the surface.

I haven't encountered this, though I'll frequently use the PC for a final pass with a milder product and/or sometimes use the white finishing pads (on the Cyclo) for my final work. The last time I used the green pads by themselves (with #80 on Audi clear) they didn't seem to cause any problems. Any other Cyclo users having trouble with marring from the green pads?

Not putting Beanbag on the spot here, just wondering if there's something I haven't noticed/experienced. I'd have figured that if the green pads left an OK finish on my Jag's lacquer they'd be soft enough for anything....I'd like to know if this is a common issue since I'm always raving about how great the Cyclo is.

If I can, I'll get some close-up pics of the foam material. It looks different than the polishing foam on a LC pad. I've had it mar with 3M SMR. At that time, I was like, what the hell? It doesn't mar as much as SSR1 coz it is slick and lotion-like.

I use the green pads often......never a problem.... I mostly use them to apply wax/sealant products like AIO, NXT, UPP(4Star). I've even applied mild abrasive polishes with the green pads......They work great for me..... :xyxthumbs

I don't think I can get the pictures to turn out well. Anyway, the difference between the cyclo green and LC white foam is that the green foam is more "open cell" , i.e. the pores seem larger and the fibers are thicker. They both have about the same softness when you push down on them, but that is because the fewer green fibers are thicker/harder, leading the green pad to feel rougher.

Beanbag- Yeah, the Cyclo (green) pads are quite different from the Lake/CMA white polishing pads. I've just never had a problem with them causing marring....I never used the 3m SMR with them, though. I use them with PI-III MG (054937) quite a bit, and never had a problem with that.

Hmm...any other input would be appreicated. It seems weird that the "standard" Cyclo pads would do this, since pros go through an incredible number of them (TOL ships hundreds a *day*). Note that Terry even uses them for LSPs, as most of us did back in the day before the other pads became widely available.

I think most of us welcome more variety in pads that fit the Cyclo.

Is it true that currently Cyclo (OE) , Surbuf and Lake Country are the only kinds available?

Yeah, more choices is good, but the green pads have served me pretty well over the years.

I do believe those are the only 4" pad makers, at least those are the only ones I've heard about.
