I can thank my compact flourescent bulbs! I replaced all of the original 100W round bulbs with 26W compact fluorescents, including the one in the garage.

That bill includes the days when I've used the PC to apply SSRs and AIO to 2 cars too! :xyxthumbs

BTW my oven/stove is electric as well, and I have a fishtank pump running 24/7. :)

That's a nice bill. I couldn't dream of having such a low electric bill, although it did drop about 35% after I started turning off all the PCs at night instead of leaving them on 24/7.

Fluorescents are good too. They don't highlight defects as well as incandescents but most of the time they're good enough, and just use a spotlight when needed.

The CHARGE is more than the actual bill! Goodness man!

LOL I noticed that too. How can the "customer charge" be more than my electric charges? That's not fair! And here I am going broke with these outrageous bills! :nervous:

HA!

I pay $60+ for a 2 bedroom apt.

You'll be amazed at what a rotary polisher uses as well as your shopvac.

Yeah this is just for a 1-BR apt.

And heat is included in the rent, so my electric shouldn't go up much during the winter. Just a bit each month 'til December due to shorter daylight hours.

.09 cents a kwh is what they charge you, but your average kwh cost including all the "customer Charges" brings that up to .21 cents a kwh.

Thats more than I pay in crazy California...my bill is way more than yours...use about 2k-3k kwh in the summer, and a kwh is about .125 cents....but the avg. cost just around .13 cents/kwh with all cost included.

70kwh?? geez... I think I used that much posting this! When I used to live in an apartment, something was wrong with the water meter, whereby it never changed. So I'd only pay the $4 service charge every month. I never knew if it was broken, or if the meter was just in a really high resolution. I secretly wondered if it was like in the million gallon granularity, and one day it would roll one digit and I'd have like a $10,000 water bill... ;)

Yeah I replaced all of my most-used bulbs with compact flourescents, and I go to the school (where I am now, which is also work (UW Aquatic Toxicology Lab) to use the internet. It's much nicer to use a T1 than dial-up anyway. That saves me more electricity from not having to turn my computer on at home.

I probably use more electricity in the garage than in the house! With the polishers and the lights when I'm working on the car... Sometimes I think I spend more time out there too!

Dude I envy you. I would give my right arm for an electric bill that low. We live in an apartment and it runs us at least $100/mo. As far as energy conservation.... you got skills. :grinno:

Just wondering exactly how much it improved, kw amount etc. That's amazing. Good thing about Univ Housing is you can run as much as you want for one payment. However I maxed out the downloading bandwidth within a month. Whoops. Thank God for wireless :LOLOL :ca

I don't know how much it improved the kW used, because I installed the compact flourescents a few days after I moved in.

However, my first bill was only for 16 days and that was $10.36. This one was for 32 days and was only $14.90. Additionally, I've used the dishwasher, floor fans, and stove/oven much more. I also used the A/C a few times.

At any rate, I laugh every time I see my electric bill. I do what I can to keep the KWH low, and it appears to be working well to my advantage.

CORRECTION: The 26W bulbs are only in the bathroom and the garage (you GOTTA have good lighting in the garage! :D ). All the other bulbs are 13W.

Are you Amish ? A $14 electric bill is unbelievable . My refrigerator probably cost that much to run a month.

Nope, but I don't watch much TV :nixweiss

I do listen to the radio a lot in the garage while I'm working on the car though.
