Well I'm new here, names Matt. I normally just read and read and well read more till I find what I'm looking for. I've looked around here a bit and seached, BTW great site!
Anyway this is what I have.
UDM w/ DAS kit Ultimate Detailing Machine Car Polisher Kit -- Porter Cable 7424 Alternative
Sonus scratch remover kit(SFX-1+4"pad)Porter Cable 7424 Car Polisher Scratch Remover Kit
Have some 3M Perfect It compound
Dura Gloss 901,101,951(AW), waiting for some 105 as could not find it OTC, thinking about getting some 601 later.
Some Mothers cleaner wax??
So I'm going to try this stuff out for the 1st time on my DD '99 Grand AM(yeah I know but need to pratice), not real up on much of it yet(mosty terms and procedures), I'm more of a mechanical guy/fabricator/electrical ect.. Heres my sleeper street car I built(Turbo/lots of mods) that has newer paint,http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2641801
The GA I'm just going to wash, clay bar(recomend an OTC please), remove some swirls(dont think the 101 will cut it and the other stuff may be too agressive?? So I can get 3M swirl remover OTC for sure is that any good?)
Is it even worth doing this if I dont yet have the 105?
The race car, painted 1year ago, wetsanded most of it(1500+2000), still has some orange peel, tried using a cheap polisher w/ the 3m stuff and worked slightly and took forever. Will the 4"SFX-1 kit work on some orange peel??, then I would do as I did to the GA.
Just looking for advise, I think I have most of the order of opperation down, but may need a swirl remover. Also I like to fully understand things and now am a little hazey do to all the products available and some of the terms, like Glaze and like 105 is that actually a wax or do I need that also?
Thanks much in advance for any insight, I bought the duragloss because, well I read good things about it and I'm cheap.
