Good Carnauba stripper

Hello,

I'm not a Detailer by profession, but like to haunt this forum for ideas and expertise.

What is a good OTC wax stripper solvent? I need to seal with a longer lasting polymer.

Thanks!

Gary

I guess the real question would have to be, is what is he trying to do? to take off the old wax clay is my go to.

If it needed clayed that would be best but if he just wants to clean the Pep-sol or pre-kleen would be much faster you just wipe it on and it will remove everything.
Down side of this fast stuff I have is nearly 60 Bucks per gallon normally only found in Paint shops.

I'm not of the persuasion that clay will completely remove LSP unless you really clay long and hard. Just going by personal experience, and all. I've clayed spots on my vehicles and not noticed a whole lot of degradation in beading, slickness, or dirt adhesion. I think it would depend on how much lube you used, how "clean" the vehicle is, and what type clay you used.

I think I did what he's trying completely by accident. I just put on a coat of Carnauba wax and one spot underneath had some tar still on it. I thought a 50/50 mix of Simple Green would remove it. Nope. But, there was a mucky puddle which sure looked like the wax had been washed right off.

P.S. Anyone else using Simple Green for tough stuff ? Wheels, bugs, etc.

I have used a lot of Simple Green for tires and engine but I dilute it according to what I think I need for the job.

Why not use a pre-wax cleaner? Most product lines will have some sort of chemical paint cleaner in their line that can be used to prep the finish for a new wax/sealant.

Dawn or solvents are rather harsh IMO and the only time I use them is prior to a paint correction.

Just an update Pre-Sol by dupont is no longer available for the Greater Los Angeles area... A comparable and good alternative for that is Prep-All Klean Strip.

I would rather see him use a good paint cleaner. Most of the sealant brands have a matching paint cleaner in their product lineup.
