Have a few questions though:



I purchased Aquawax, 401APC, 441 Leather Shampoo, and DG111 at the local Carquest.

I was looking for 101 but the store guys said it was more for a SS paint. He said that the 111 was better for CC finishes. Is this true?



They didnt have the 105, I'll have to check back and see if they can get it in.



I'm looking forward to putting this stuff to work.



I will be doing my wifes van and my DD. Both have been recently polished with OPS. Can I use the 105 on top of the OPS?



Thanks again to everyone for their input, i've been dying to use this stuff for a while.

I'm pretty sure people use the 101 on clear coat. From the website, it looks like the package says clear coat safe. I think the 101 is just more of a cleaner polish though, more than the 105, which is more on the pure sealant side.

Both 101 and 111 are perfectly fine for use on all paints, including clear coats. He likely recommended 101 for SS because SS tends to oxidize much more quickly and the 101, being an all-in-one cleaner/sealant product, will quickly remove oxidation and tarnish. The 111 contains no cleaners and would not remove anything (i.e. pure sealant), so I am guessing that is why he told you as he did, being that 111 would not help clean up SS paint. I have used 101 and 111 numerous times over the past years and they both work great on modern paint finishes.



Yes, you can certainly use 105 on top of OPS. 105 is pretty versatile and provides great results without much fuss. 105 is much closer to pure sealant than a cleaner sealant, and I would definitely suggest you try to get ahold of a bottle. I find it to be much better than any other sealant, including 111 or 101, that DG has ever created.

I just ordered a few DG products including their car wash, 105 and Aquawax. 105 is great on top of OPS and using AW afterwards I hear is much better. I can't wait to get my package. How is OPS by the way? I decided to use Klasse AIO as my polisher/cleaner.

Yeah, that sounds like a good plan you have. 101 is first as a cleaner and surface prep, then follow with the PBA (601) and 105. Wait a day then you can apply more 105 and then AW. You are right on the money! Of course, the very last step was left out....put on the shades and enjoy a great shine and outstanding protection! :spot
 
I don't think 101 before 601 makes sense. 101 is a sealant with cleaner and 601 is basically a pure cleaner. So if you were to lay a coat of 101 down and then follow with 601, the 601 will strip all the sealant from the 101 off. Go with 601 first and then 101 and then follow with 105 and AW. I usually let 101 cure for 12+ hours before 105 though. Remember, 101 has sealants in it, so you should treat it like an AIO.
 
101 is a much much stronger cleaner than 601. I would use 101 first to basically purify/clean the paint where needed. 101 will do a much better job cleaning than 601. The 601 is mainly a light surface prep and a very light cleaner and it's primary function is to bond with the sealant (i.e. 105 or 111). The sealant in 101 is pretty weak, so it will not matter if it is removed from the surface. In fact, I'd prefer it be removed before 105 anyway.



Also, using 601 after 101 makes sense because the 105 bonds with 601 chemically. That's really the sole purpose of 601, not as a cleaner. It is called "Polish Bonding Agent" remember. 101 will not strenghten the bond with 105 like 601 will, so using 101 just before 105 is not really a great idea, IMO.



If you used 101 after 601, it would remove all the 601. Keep in mind, you are not supposed to remove 601/PBA from the paint. You apply 601, then apply 105 on top of it to form a greater bond. That is why it is used just before the sealant.
 
I would think use 101-105 or 601-105. I dont think you will need all of them. 105 by itself works fine on a decent car.I used 101 on my wifes van 6 weeks ago , it still beads ,and still slick , and still has a great shine. I used no AW on the van and it gets automatic car washes once a week, and sits outside 24/7. I.M.O, put on a coat of 101, next time you wash put on 1 coat of 105,next time again you wash 105 . After the 4th wash use AW, and once a month after. You can use Klasse AIO instead of 101, or use 601 . With 601 , apply let dry put 105 over 601. That way the first 2 coats are done in 1 day. You can put on 1 coat of 105 and leave it go at that. In either case putting on 1 coat of 101 0r 105 shouldnt take any longer then 45 minutes if that.
 
Very interesting posts, thanks...my car is still fairly new and probably doesn't need a cleaner yet. When I got the car in April, I washed, clayed, the AIO, then Souveran. Since then, I've been using AW and FC&S. My guess is the Souveran is all gone by now and that basically the AW is left and has been reapplied a number of times.

sweet..I learned something new as the 601 PBA stated on the bottle to apply that first then apply PC...I am looking at it now! :nervous2:
 
Sorry I havent gotten back with you guys since yesterday. I will give it a shot on the wifes van. We'll be getting rid of it soon so what can I hurt?



I like the OPS, it has really done a nice job on her van which is dark blue. In fact, the first time I used the PC on it, she asked where the scratches went :woot2:



I think she was just stroking me though.

Do you think AW would be good as a topper for zaino? I seems more highly recommended than z-8.
