I just got back from a 5 hour road trip in the rain from Houston. I bought Black Tahoe that was in great condition beside a few little things that will be taken care of with some help from yall and the love of a PC.

I will be posting a detailed thread in the Click and Brag Section when I am done with Before, During and After Pictures. Also will have a write up just for fun and to help anyone in the future. Thank you Autopia for your help.

Your plan looks OK to me :xyxthumbs . There are minor "personal preference" things that one person might do differently from another, but there's NOTHING I see that's a real :nono

I saw your other thread and I'm not sure how *I'D* deal with those issues, but OK...

If the oily interior dressing just WON'T come off, just start using more and more aggressive measures. Stronger APC mixes, Dawn, etc. MAYBE even a solvent like 3M's Adhesive Remover, but be careful with stuff like that lest you do something irreparable (something a LOT worse than having a crappy dressing!).

For your "athlete stained" (sounds sorta gross) leather, same thing. You're trying to remove oils and dirt from the leather. Leather LIKES oils, so it can be a fine line between removing what you WANT to remove and removing what you SHOULDN'T remove. A strong concentration of a dedicated leather cleaner, Griot's Interior Cleaner, or a Woolite mixture would be my first approach.

And again, same thing for your exterior trim, roofrack, etc.- increasingly stronger mixtures of all purpose cleaners, Dawn, etc. (do this during the wash process in case you make a mess). Also, sometimes I've had good results using Griot's Rubber Cleaner on such surfaces. OR, try *MY* current favorite for exterior trim- AIO to clean, BFII to protect. I do this instead of treating it with ERV dressings like 303 (one of my "Autopian Heresies" that others sometimes :scared about).

FWIW, despite my "don't detail it" instructions, the selling dealer put some oily crap on the tires of our MPV (and yes, I made an issue out of it that they won't soon forget). I scrubbed and scrubbed with Griot's Rubber Cleaner, EF Hi-Intensity, you name it. Finally just had to wait until it dissipated on its own- it wasn't coming off/out of the rubber. Sometimes you just have to live with it...

Thank you, the stains im talking about in the leather are just from dirts and persperation. Its not that bad. I tried some basic leather cleaner and it does the job fairly well, take about 5 minutes to completely clean a 1ft x 1ft section of the leather but it comes out fine. The former owner was a pro football player for the Texans. The oil substance on the vinyl slow comes off with a light mixture of dawn and water so thanks. Its raining today so I will not know what to do on the exterior problems but thank you for you help and other help that someone gives.

I'm guessing that there is little wax to remove, so if you used Meg's soap instead of Dawn and tried to clay before you rinse like others have suggested you might save some time and work. 3 separate steps into 1 slightly larger step.
