Howdy folks! Long time no see!
Anyways, I've been driving a 2000 2.0L Volkswagen New Beetle for about 3 years now, and tomorrow she's going to get her first "detailing". I've washed and waxed and vacuumed before for general maintenance purposes, but this time around I want to try to give her something more.
That said, I'm quite the newbie when it comes to this kind of stuff. I don't want to go all out crazy because I get frustrated easily and lose interest.
Tomorrow after I pick up my paycheck, I was planning on picking up a few things to take care of this. I work at Target, so I was planning on picking up my things there in the interest of saving time (shipping) and doing a sort of "trial run".
Are there any particular things I should avoid? That I should absolutely get?
I read the article "Introduction to Detailing" and it seemed (ironically) too detailed for me, especially with all the product suggestions.
Here's pretty much what I'd like to get done in no particular order. If someone can rearrange this for ease and perhaps time, that would be phenomenal.
A. Wash
B. Attempt to use Scratch Remover (previous owner lived in the city.. got scratches all over her!)
C. Remove Vinyl car graphics (HOW?!)
D. Wax
E. Shampoo Removable Rugs (I whacked one with a golf club for like 10 minutes and I swear I could make a sand castle!)
F. Vacuum Removable Rugs
G. Vacuum Floor Rug (lots of dirt and pebbles. Tried this afternoon but the vacuum can't get everything out)
H. Clean the Vinyl Interior
I. Clean the Leather Seats
J. Clean the Windows (Windscreen, Moon roof, Back Hatch, Door Glass, Mirrors)
So yeah, got quite the bit of work ahead of me on my day off tomorrow!
So, can anyone suggest some "beginner" or easy-to-use products I can get at Target (or Wal Mart if I really have to)
(Sorry if something like this has been posted before. I did a search and couldn't find much)
