Gloss it and cyclo correction

Got my gloss it today. Here's my mini review.



+ Dusts less than SIP and 106; also find it has better working time and correction (I got more out of 1 pass with it than I normally do on SIP with my test panel)



- For some reason only shipping option to Canada is express (and not ground) shipping, and one my bottles has a split at the top so I had to replace it.



This is just a piece of a bumper I ripped off from somewhere (I believe it's a GM clear, but not entirely certain.

Based on my highly unscientific and unthorough testing, the cyclo does seem to like it more-so than Menzerna (I usually do orange/SIP, green/106, then seal and wax).



Also, I was able to remove 2000grit sanding scratches with it and a cyclo and orange pads using moderate pressure.



I'll use it for a few cars to determine if it's as good as it seems, but it does seem fairly decent.
 
Btw, 2 other thoughts i had on this from playing around with it somemore



- It definative has more cut than SIP. Normally SIP/green on a cyclo doesn't do much on my first pass. Here, extreme cut/green had very positive impact, removed all the swirling and a lot of the RIDs (not all, but a lot)



- Could be my imagination, but the paint heats up more than I'm used to with the cyclo. I tried the same 'style' (dime sized amount of polish, 2-3 passes (North-South, East-West) with moderate pressure, then several passes with just the machine's pressure) with the extreme cut and the surface was a lot warmer when finished that it is when using either SIP, 105, or other heavy cuts.
 
You will find that the 1 step is great with the Cyclo as well, and that the polishes with a cyclo will help you finish down holograms from a rotary.On soft paints this is a godsend at times.

The linup confuses me a bit



I get the extreme cut is the most aggressive

And I get the machien polish is the least and a good finishing polish



However, the 1step vs evolution cut is confusing - the rating is that e.c. is less aggressive that 1step. However, 1step says it only corrects 70% of defects (is this in 1 pass? also, I havn't tried the 1stepper yet so I can't really comment on it), so does this mean the e.c. isn't able to do much correction at all?

Evolution polish is a finish polish, 1 step machine is a corrective polish with gloss finish sealant added in thus you can correct and protect in one step. A few guys have even finished down with evolution polish as the last rotary step then applied the one step machine polish with a Cyclo or Flex DA as the final step to their correction/detail as 1 step works best with a DA type machine as opposed to a rotary.
 
Okay, I got ya. So, if you corrected the paint with extreme cut, would your (personal preference) choice be to use the evolution (least abbrassive) polish as the finishing polish, or use the 1 step machine as the finishing touch, assuming the extreme cut finish looked acceptable?

That's probably because the bumper is fiberglass and doesn't have the metal backing found on doors and other panels to absorb the heat from polishing (unless you used the SIP on the same panel and got different results).

I tried the 1step on my dad's i30 and I was quite surprised by it - with a green pad on a cyclo, 1 pass removed about 95% of what I was aiming to pull out.



Very impressive - not only because usually green does absolutely nothing on the first step, but I was not expecting it to be overly effective.....the "70%" stuff it talks about in the description had me thinking it was a really weak polish that couldn't do much.
 
Just got some samples from auto concierge and eagerly waiting to try them out.



Being able to go (possibly) from extreme cut to their polish leaves me wanting to try extreme cut or evo cut on my aunts 98' mpv(never been detailed, waxed etc.) followed by their sealant just to see what it looks like on white and silver...

That's basically what I"ve been doing - extreme cut with orange on the cyclo, then green with the machine gloss. optimum poli-seal then pinnacle soverign ontop and looks great.
 
This is a great post. I just did my black cadillac this weekend. I have the gloss-it one step and tried it and well, it does work pretty well but I wanted more.



And I learned that if you don't work it long enough it leaves buffer trails. Not sure what that's about but I got them. Once I figured out how to work it, I got some pretty good results. It does remove quite a few defects and for a one step it's great.



I did a panel with the 1 step then decided to go the rest of the way with 2 steps. I'll post pictures later, but with the 1 step, I used orange pads on the Cyclo. I also used it with orange LC pads on my PC. The results were the same.



For my 2 step, I used 1Z Intensiv pasta on orange and then followed it up with 1Z HG on white and the results were amazing!



By the way, you can definitely work the gloss-it longer and it doesn't dust nearly as much as the 1Z stuff. I'm going to get the more aggressive Gloss it stuff and try it later.

John with the rotary you really need to utilize the /evp pad prime it's key, also the rpm's when compounding need to at first be as high as 1800-2200 then step down the speed on the next pass to 1400-1500 then as low as 900 with the EVP and you get great correction.

Yeah, that's a good combo. I used green pads for one pass with the 1Z HG, but I was working on hard paint.

Good to know, but it sounds like you *must* work the Gloss-It longer. But then you sure have to work the 1Z Pasta Intensiv sufficiently too!
