Glaze and Wax...Please explain

Can someone please explain what difference in Glaze and Wax is.

Do u apply glaze under wax?



Do u apply glaze over sealant?



Should you do wash, clay, polish, seal, glaze, wax? or are all these steps necessary.

There is no explaination since manufacturers cannot agree on what the words mean. Wax Shop's Super Glaze is a wax. I would consider Meguiars #81 Hand Polish to be a glaze.



Your sealant or wax would be your last step product.

...Yes, while 3M's P-I III Machine Glaze is a polish. I love how the bottle says it is a glaze, but it "polishes without fillers." It keeps us guessing.
 
For this very reason of confusion...I think its best to stick with one product manufacturer (while learning) and learn their line of waxes, polishes, glazes, compounds, etc. to figure out exactly what they all do as well as giving a base for comparison for other products.
 
Maybe some simple definitions:



Polish - a light abrasive used to remove surface imperfections



Glaze - an oil based product used to fill surface imperfections and create gloss



Wax - a product to protect the paint surface



Just my opinion.
 
I agree, forrest, but I sure wish all manufacturers were that consistant. It sure would save time figuring out what to use.

Exactly. When I first started detailing, I was using nothing but Mother's products. Once I got the hang of it and started to understand the differences of waxes and processes of detailing, I now use a wide of array of different products.
