Glasurit Paint

Does anyone know anything about this type of paint, a buddy of mine had his Mustang painted Black with it, back in 1996. He took pretty good care of it, but its got a lot of spider webbing in it now. I was going to experiment with SIP on it.
 
Glasurit is just a brand name. Laquer had a tendency to crack or get chickens feet was we used to call them. Base Coat Clear Coat or Acrylic Urethane is a lot more durable. Most likely the paint is an Acrylic Urethane.



If you just talking just about swirl marks which are sometimes called spider webbing you just need to polish them out with a quality Polish like Zaino ZPC, Menzerna or 3M makes. If latter scratch what I said above.



SIP should work fine.

To me, classic spider webbing is caused by 'abuse' to the surface. Improper washing, inferior toweling, etc. An eleven year old paint job has had plenty of opportunity to become marred.

I would not fault the paint. Glasurit is a fine brand and widely used.



Even after a trip to David's "Secret Decoder Ring", I have no clue as to what SIP is. But, any medium cut polish (with rotary) should clean up the paint.

I don't have any pics of his car, he only drives it for auto crossing, in which he trailers it. I'm sure his washing techniques weren't the greatest.
