Gilmour Foamaster II + Zaino Z7

Sorry guys, I tried searching. I found references to Z7 in a "foamaster" thread, but I didn't find anyone who had gotten a good ratio down.

What do you folks suggest for a ratio of z7 to water in the pickup tank? I was thinking maybe 3oz or there about?

BTW, IMO, Z7 is WAAAAY too expensive to be using with a foamgun.

You'll be spending nearly $9 on each wash.

I KNOW what you're doing wrong, you're diluting your wash solution way too much. Somewhere between 60/40 and 80/20 shampoo:water ratio is where you want to be for optimum pickup by the straw. 2-3 capfuls of Z7 is not going to create any foam at all. REMEMBER: the foam gun is mixing what's in the chamber with a good amount of water.... The settings on the foam gun are mixing what's in the chamber with water, so on setting 1, 1 ounce of what's in the chamber mixes in with each gallon of water, so think of that as 4 capfuls of Z7 in a nearly-full 5gal bucket of water, which is the recommended dilution for Z7 by zaino themselves. If you dilute the chamber solution to 50/50, then that same bucket would only have 2 capfuls of solution.....

The point of the foamgun is not to conserve shampoo, therefore things like Z7 are prohibitively expensive in the foamgun. Beyond that, I see really no reason to use expensive shampoos like Z7.

Hrm. I don't know how I missed that probably because I was looking at foamaster+z7. At any rate, if you use 1 cap per gallon of water (according to the zaino store) you should still be able to use a couple caps in the quart size cannister and set your ratio to 1 oz a gallon and have a metric boatload of foam. People use 3 ounces (to a quart) in a foam gun on a pressure washer with fantastic results.

Per this same thread you quoted.

I divided the FG bottle into fifths and filled it 1/5 with Z7 and the rest with water and it still produced a lot of foam with the pin pulled to the left with one hole still showing on the right. It might be like 2oz.

Fluxy, what I do is use about 16 capfuls (actually, I measure by the ounce, about 5.3 oz, or a third of the bottle) in the quart foam gun reservoir, and go with the middle hole (I don't know what that is on the II, but on the I it's 4 oz/gal). Of course, that works out to the Zaino recommendation of 2 capfuls per gallon of wash...and as you noted people seem to use a lot less than I do in their foam guns.

How is that Foamaster II, BTW? If I had it to do over again I think I would get that one instead of the brass one.

on the II it is the middle setting also

A= 1oz/gal

B= 2oz/gal

C= 4oz/gal

D= 6oz/gal

E= 12oz/gal

Setec,

If you check Zaino's page they recommend 1 capful per gallon. They must have ultra-concentrated the wash. Because my wash from a few years back says 2-3 cap fulls per gallon and now their page says otherwise (I'll have to check my newest Z7 bottle).

#2 Mix one cap full of Z-7â„¢ Show Car Wash per gallon of water in a clean wash bucket.

P.S I have the brass one, I guess I thought that was the "II".

I use Z7 in the foam gun, in an old Z7 bottle i pour in 3oz then fill to the top with water then give it a good mix, i do this in all my old Z7 bottles & always have a wash mix ready to go.

I use 1/2 to 3/4 of a bottle per wash on the lowest setting on the gilmore, so 6/7/8 washes per full bottle of Z7.
