Getting Race-Ready

After three amd a half years, I'm finally dropping a couple of bucks on my Grand Prix. It's just a GT, so I'll most likely be limited to hitting the 14's in the quarter-mile. On Friday, I have to attend Intense Drag Days V, so the weekend was spent working on my car.

Higher Ratio-Rockers

Matched and flow tested injectors

Replaced PCV valve, oxygen sensor, fuel filter

New tires - Sumitomo HTR+, stock size

Tranny fluid and filter change

It feels faster, so now all I have to do is find out at the track. My previous personal best was 15.34@89 something mph. I'm hoping to beat that by quite a bit. Maybe an extra coat of wax will make me that much faster due to lower wind resistance. :D

FWD. I drop front psi to about 26 and raise rear to 40. I take out my headlight (airbox is behind headlight), but leave the air filter in place. The tires are new, so I will have some extra burnouts to do to get them nice and scrubbed.

Compression ratio¡Â¦s of the GT and GTP are different so you can not just drop the super on. Also, the gtp has some forged internals to withstand the boost. Check out clubgp.com if you have not already. Is your stock air box gutted? If not gut it good and that will help.

I have a RED GTP ƒº Love that super¡K

Those are street tires....doing a big burnout will do nothing for you. Hate to say it. DONT go through the water box....you will piss people off and just drag water down the first 60 feet of the track. I would lower the front tires down to about 22-24 and raise the backs like you said.

DON'T remove the air filter completely...is it worth possibly ruining your engine for a tenth of a second improvement? The headlight removal is a good idea.

Removing weight will be your best bet.

according to everett VM will actuly reduce cfd we use it on soalr car jsut casue its shiny i may get some tunnel time soon ill keep you infomred

Try some nitrous, I think it will serve your application well. Zex makes a nice user friendly kit that you can readily adjust the jetting. Bang for the buck you cannot go wrong.

Hey scott, if you want some good local advice check out www.ubrf.org After weeding through some of the nonsence you will find alot of people who know alot about cars, and some of them have Grand Prixs' such as your self. There are a couple of rather fast ones on there too. And if you need any help making things work, or installing stuff, give me a call, i am pretty good at that sort of stuff ;)
