Getting more $$$$$

I have been getting more than my share of cars that require extra time and work. When I explain to a customer what it is I'm dealing with and what work is involved they understand the cost will be higher. For example, if my complete detail is $200 for an average car, if a finish requires serious paint correction, I charge accordingly. Everytime you go around the car doing a step, its around 45min. No one has complained if I add on $50-$75 for extra work. They forget real fast when they see what their car looks like. It makes perfect business sense. Gary

I actually have set prices for all cars in any condition and I like it because the customer knows exactly what they are going to pay with no surprises. I know then when I take my car to the mechanic and he says it'll probably be $200 and then charges $500 it leaves a very sour taste in my mouth.

We charge $225 for the complete package for any car and $270 for any SUV/Van/Truck but most people have coupons that we pass out.

Under $300 for any truck or car? Is that really all you charge for a full interior/exterior detail? I won't even pull the buffer out of the locker for $300.

Wow. If I went around charging $300 for a full detail I would have no business. Maybe I need to move to Oregen.. On second thought, maybe not.

Nice to see you've started thinking.

I could never charge $300 for a basic interior/exterior detail. I normally do a clay, whatever needed polish, AIO, sealent and then wax for $175. Then I charge $50 for additional coats or other "problemed paints".

What do you guys charge? I just do it part time. I need health insurance. Love to see what you guys charged

I charge $200 for an average car. $265 suv/$300 van or small truck/ I could charge more but I think my prices are fair. Plus, like I said in my post, If I have to go through six steps on a car that has not been cared for. I charge extra. Gary

My full details at $140 for a car and then $185 for an standard size truck or SUV, Oversized vehicles start at $225 such as dualie trucks, 15 passenger vans, and Hummers. These prices include a wash, clay of horizontal surfaces, polish and sealant/wax. Then windows, some spot treatment on the interior and the panels dressed and fully vacuumed.

Charge a fair market price and I've never had anyone bawk at my prices. They're competitive with other detailers but the results are better :) Maybe I'm a little biased though

I have decided on $125 for basic interior/exterior detail with a polish, glaze and wax. I charge extra for clay, shampooing the carpet, engine bay detail, blah blah blah.

wow!?! I was thinkin of charging $40 since ppl were saying $60 was too much. I was gonna do exterior: wash, clay, and wax. maybe i should do a price adjustment

Or maybe find different customers.

$40 to me is worth a wash and vacuum, and maybe some trim and tire dressing. Or replace the vacuum with a quick coat of cheap cleaner wax slapped on:scared
