Getting a Black 2000 Lightning tomorrow...

Looks like I'm going to be buying a nice black 2000 Lightning with 30K miles. The only downside to the thing that I saw was the amount of swirls it had. The dealer said they could detail it and get rid of the swirls so I asked them what they use and they said an orbital with 3M polish. Should I go ahead and let them give it a detailing? I mean it probably can't get much worse unless they screw up... and I really don't feel like doing it myself in the 90 degree heat w/100% humidity with daily thunderstorms we've been having lately. ;)

I'm thinking I might let them do the detail... and scrape off the overly dark aftermarket tint on the front & rear windows and then this fall once it starts to cool off I'll work my magic on it. Probably buy a little AIO to try out and top it with either SG or my existing P21S. Unless ofcourse all they do is fill the swirls... which will probably be the case.

I think I'll have a lot of fun with a black truck. :D

BTW I'm trading in my Red 95 3000GT base w/atx so this truck should be a little more fun to drive everyday. ;)

I'm in Clemson bring it on down here and I'll do it for ya as long as you let me drive it once :)

Seriously I wouldn't let the dealer touch it. Sounds like a good time to invest in a Porter Cable Dual Action Polisher unless you just really want to work those muscles :)

Already got one. ;)

As well as some 3M SMR for dark colors, P21S GEPC, and P21S Paste wax. Probably going to order some AIO soon too. It's just been so hot & humid lately with daily storms I don't think I'd get enough time to do it myself for atleast a month or 2... and I know I wouldn't make it that long staring at the swirls. Obviously somebody went to town with a rotory or orbital. They're noticeable... but it's just like any other non-autopian black car probably is. Not to mention I was looking at it at the worst (or best?) possible time to see swirls... late afternoon with the sun going down shining right on the side of the truck at a slight angle. I was like

Guess I can always do it panel by panel instead of all at once... I'm gonna have a lot of fun once I do get my hands on it though. :D

I'm in the Raleigh, NC area. I can handle the detail myself... it'd be a whole lot nicer if I had a nice airconditioned garage though.
