generator recommendations?

I'm not really caring about noise level much seeing as how my shop vac and mytee lite aren't the quietest machines. My mytee lite takes up the most power, I'm thinking something around 3500 Watts. Thanks in advance guys!

I have a porter cable 5250 watt generator. It is loud, but it does the job just fine. The honda generators are quiet but alot of money. 3500 I think is a good watt for what you need.

I have the EU 3000 Honda unit. Noise was bothering me at some locations where I was working- I had a 5500 Honda previously.

I run a vac, steamer, and extractor sometimes. Hasn't slowed me down, and my ears don't ring anymore! :)

I found it from a guy that couldn't keep it running- would start on the choke fine, and then stall. $900 and almost no use. $90 to clean it all out and runs like new!! Sweet deal.

Jose, the porter cable was around 550.00$. That was about 7 yrs ago. I got it from a porter cable store in my area. If you have the money I would recommend getting the honda or onan.

+1.................

It's funny you should ask this question. I was actually looking at these last week and have my mind set on getting this one from Lowes. It has enough power to run my Mytee HP60. I figured with a Troy Bilt and a B&S Motor, you can't go wrong. I am definitely going to get one before spring rolls around.

The site that bothered me was an escrow office and health club- the boss' office was right next to our wash station and we were a bit loud with our older unit- just did not have good vibe for someone that wants to separate from the typical herd of washers.

We use the little Honda at demos, and they are quite quiet. There are Yamaha generators/inverters that are similar quality and noise level at a lower cost, but they are still pricey...

.

Try working in a u-shaped office plaza, enclosed parking garage or near a noise sensitive tenant with an open frame 4000W generator and you might not get a direct complaint- but you may not get more clients either. And WCD is right, the more you can do to distinguish yourself from the herd the better, I think any convenience a business adds by being mobile can be drowned out by the noise you create.

Most generators are labeled with a decibel rating. For every increase in 10 decibels, the noise level is 10 times more powerful. A generator that runs at 70 decibels is ten times as loud as a generator that runs at 60 decibels.

The difference between a Honda EU/Kipor or similar at 58db vs the 75-80 db of a traditional air cooled, non-inverter generator is substantial.

I would go with the the Honda. You do not want to go cheap on any of your equipment. Honda is quieter, the power is cleaner, and it will most likely last twice as long as the cheaper options.

what do you guys think about those kipor generators? I've never heard of that brand until I was on craigslist trying to find a honda EU generator

anyone have experience with kipor generators? amazon has great reviews, im thinking about getting the 3000 watt if I can find it for cheap.

I've got a rebranded Kipor 2000; very reliable, has given me zero problems and their ratings are accurate. I believe they're the most popular generator in Europe.

I have a Coleman 5000watt its loud and it works great if im using it im in a big parking lot or commercial area so the noise really does not matter.

This is the one to have. Honda EU3000is.

Quiet, electric start, and has an intelligent throttle that saves gas.

Worth every penny, and if you have to sell it some day, they depreciate like Civics...slowly.
